Hey all,

So I got a rash at 7 weeks. Definitely hives. I'd just had my flu jab so though maybe it was a reaction to that. NHS 24 said it was and the midwives said it definitely wasn't. It took about 2 weeks to go away. Legs, hands, arms, feet. The bottom of my feet started to swell up and made it difficult to walk.

Now I'm just about 12 weeks and I've had it again twice since then. Again today. Randomly

I cant figure put what reason, any allergy or anything. I never had it with my daughter. I'm unsure if its worth going to the midwife about again. I did phone the first time thinking it was the flu jab reaction and they told me I could take piriteze but I'm not big on taking it in 1st tri so didn't. I'm just stumped on a cause. :wall2:

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It's driving me mental. I have no allergies known other than penicillin

Ok then :wall2: Why people click but don't bother replying I don't know. I guess nobody's ever had this before on the forum

There is a good chance that the right person is still to read this.... I know, it's annoying not to get any answers.

I haven't had this before but what I know is that pregnancy messes up our bodies and I wouldn't be surprised if one of the foods that was normally ok to eat is now giving you this?

Ps. My mum gets similar rash after eating or drinking anything with fresh lemon in it xx

Thanks KHTW for posting. I was in a huffy mood when I posted haha. I know it must be something but it's very annoying not knowing what. Nothing seems to match up with when it happens roughly that I can see. Might just need to deal until baby comes xx

I've never had hives before but aren't they something to do with allergy or your body being run down? Are you taking any different medications or different laundry detergent etc? x

Yeah my mum gets something similar and it’s an allergic reaction to something really obscure that’s in some permafrost sauces, spice mixes and something in wine too.

I know pregnancy can make your skin more sensitive in general (I keep getting red burn like rashes on my stomach) so maybe that’s aggravating something that normally didn’t use to cause much of a reaction for you?

Hugs

Hi Shanivy. I had this during my pregnancy with DD. I think I was 5 months pregnant when I suddenly had terrible itchy legs and arms. I COULDN'T work out what it was but it came and went. It drive me mad but my sister (who was like my pregnancy guru) said she also suffered with it. Sounds bonkers but I used to slather myself in sudocream to ease the itchiness. I hadnt used anything different as in detergent, creams or foods. Hope it passes quickly for you I know how annoying it can be x

Thanks Fastnet. I've tried to figure out what it could be but I'm stumped . Yes lol Ive tried sudocrem. Sometimes I give in and attach myself bloody it's so frustrating!! Xx

Thanks everyone Yes they're usually a reaction to an allergy. I must be allergic or sensitive to something now I'm pregnant that I wasn't before but I just don't know what. Switched to a non bio powder but no change and made food diaries but nothing pops out. I think I'd need tested to figure it out. Hopefully it goes away on its own. Most of you are in my July thread lol so thanks for the replies. I was in an almighty hormonal huff when I posted about not getting a reply haha xxx

I had an out break and I was mortified as I just thought oh my god I’m a pre teen all over again !!!!

Had it on my back my chest my face and the itching was awful but after maybe 4 days it calmed down I still have a few red marks but no longer itching. I just used an aloe Vera gel on them but still have no clue why they came up!

Mine still happen Amy. Not as bad. I must have an allergy to something but I doubt I'll ever figure it out it must be very obscure. They used to go into big welts. It's very annoying lol. Hopefully yours are a one off xx

That sounds really annoying! I suffer from eczema and its started to flare up on feet and hands. Im have not used steriod cream since bfp.but have been referred to dermatology....referred before bfp back in oct and appt is tomorrow. Hoping theyll be able to give me some advice as its so annoying and itchy. Ive had hive before too....not plesant. I think your skin is much more sensitive. i was told my midwife before mmc that skin problems can flare up in pregnancy. As for allergies its almost impossible to say. It might be worth keeping a diary of what you eat, products you use etc so when it flares up again, you can see if there are any patterns. Sorry to hear you have these. Hope they settle. If not ask for a referral to dermatology? X

I'm sort of used to mine now. If it was still as bad as it was weeks ago I'd be going insane! It's really now just my shoulders, elbows that flare up. Changed to non bio and everything, tried a food diary but tbh I was so sick I wasn't eating much anyway so I gave up. Tried aloe vera etc but nothing worked then. Bloody annoying is right lol

Aw I hope your referral is useful tomorrow and they give you better advice than the usual "sorry you're pregnant" crap. My mum has psoriasis that really got bad in her first 2 pregnancies but almost cleared up with her third. It's weird what pregnancy can do to you.

Congrats on your pregnancy btw. Ive seen a few of your posts about your mmc. Hope you have a healthy pregnancy hun xx

Thanks shainvy. I hope your hives settle down. I totally get how uncomfortable they are. Im hoping i will get some help tom as i feel my eczema is getting worse each day! X
