Feeling down today.

I got a UTI (from sex through TTC) so on antibiotics, Nitrofurantion, so will have to try next month rather then this month.

Can anybody advise?

After my AF arrived confirming that I wasn't pregnant I have ordered ovalation kits as I haven't a clue when I will ovulate next. My cycle is so irregular.

So far it has been

AF
5 Jan
28 Jan = 23 days
28 Feb = 32 days
28 March = 29 days
28 April = 32 days
25 May = 28 days
28 June = 34 days

Any idea when to start testing for ovulation or even when it could be?

If this is the case, and you want to go the monitoring route, you might be best off charting temperature. Or, and I know this sounds perverse, purchasing a Persona. Now, I know they're meant to be for contraceptive use (as they're essentially scientifically backed rhythm method) but they do tell you the day you ovulate. Since you'd be checking it daily, then you wouldn't need to fret about missing it. They are expensive, but they do have the added benefit of the fact you could use them after the birth for their proper function.

Equally, research has shown that your libido is naturally stronger around the time of ovulation because, biologically, there is a strong desire to reproduce. So just going with the flow and relaxing may work better for you.

Wishing you the best of luck whichever method you choose! I found it was most important just to relax. I made sure I had a nice bubble bath as often as possible, kept the flat as tidy as possible etc etc in a bid to keep stress levels down. Vitamin B6 also works well, I'm told, if this is problem for you. Plus it helps with fertility I gather.

Just another question.

My UTI is clearing up and my ovalation day is Saturday, the day after I finish the anitbiotics. How safe is it to concieve whilst using antibiotics? I am off to the Dr tonight to ask if I can be put on antibiotics for a few months (I have had recurrent UTI for 18 months) to avoid another attack but on the other hand don't want to delay trying to concieve.

Any one been through the same?

You poor thing! I know what it's like, I suffer from recurring UTI's, it's nasty, I totally feel for you. I'm not sure how safe it is to concieve with the antibiotics for a UTI, I know they're not safe to take in pregnancy, and I am unsure if the Doc will give you tablets to take all the time. Ask to be referred to a specialist, that's what I will do next time I have an attack.

I went to a specialist a year ago, after having my kidneys scanned for stones, and he just said take a couple of months antibiotics, which I did and it was ok for about 8 months and then started again last weekend.

Saw the Doc and she has put me on Augmentin (Co-amoxiclav) 3x daily for a week and then 1 a day for 3 weeks. I explained that we are trying for a baby and she said that it was fine to take them whilst trying for a baby, and I asked the chemist too and said it was ok to take them

They are penicillion based.

After my AF turned up a week late last month after getting a BFP and then a BFN from the Dr and subsequent BFNs, my AF turned up 4 days early this month so my cycle is all over the place. Do you think I was 4 days early because I was late last month?

I tried using OV kits last month but being on antibiotics I think i didn't get any positive readings

thats really strange xx i did two tests monday both positive went to drs yesterday he didnt test again x just said ul be expecting at end of march n book me in with a midwife xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Moofa,

Just wanted to let you know that I had 4 negatives before I had a positive which showed up at 17 days late.
Went to the doctor a few days later and he did a test and confirmed it was positive. So you may well still be pregnant if you havent had you period.

The four test's I used on 1, 5, 10 and 13 days late was called Reveal from my local chemist and when I still didnt come on at 17 days late I used First response which was positive.

I was really pleased to see you message about trying to conceive whilst taking co-amoxiclav. I had a miscarriage on friday and have been prescribed these antibiotics as I'm still suffering pretty bad cramps and bleeding. We want to start trying for another baby asap, so it's good to hear it's ok to try when on the tablets! Thanks, oh and good luck to you...

Thanks, difficult times, ey? The miscarriage was after getting preganant for the first time, we had been trying for about 4 months so hopefully it won't take us too long to get preggie again.

I thought I was successful 1st try but it turned out to probably be a chemical pregnancy, and it was horrible the other week as I came home to find an answerphone message from the midwife. I had to ring and leave a message and say I wasn't pregnant

I think my Dr forgot to tell the midwife that I wasn't pregnant.

But I am sorry that you were actually pregnant and miscarried

it is fun trying though
