I would start of with a few spoonfuls of baby rice then progress from there. After a little while (I left it a month before I tried Jamie on anything other than baby rice & rusks) puree up some butternut squash, carrot, potato, cauliflour or parsnips etc then add other stuff peas, beans, sweetcorn, chicken, fish etc.
The Annabel Karmel book has been really useful for recipes (I ignored the ages really as she says not to start weaning until 6 months, we started at 3 months with jamie as he was soooooooooo big!)
