Hello !

First, I would like to excuse me for my very bad english. I'm a french women and I and my Husband trying to conceive a baby.
My husband will be relocating for his work in a few months in an Anglo-Saxon country. (I try to improve my English because I'm really not good at it. I think this moving will help me a lot!)
In theory we should live many years in this country.

I contact you today because I'm already looking for a name for my baby. I dont want that my child has too much problem at school by his name.
I made a list of names, I would like to know if you have difficulties to pronounce these names, and if they do not seem too strange.

For Baby Girl :

Céleste (or Celeste)
Iris
Iseult
Castille
Elise
Pénélope (or Penelope)
Melisande
Sibylle
Violette
Ethel

For Baby Boy :

Achille
Niels
Arthur
Arsène (or Arsene ?)
Grégoire
Victor
Marcus
Hadrien
Loup
Maximilien

Hi there. There are a few I can pronounce but they would spud very northern the way I would say them but I can read and pronounce properly:

Celeste, iris, Elise, Penelope, violette and Ethel.
Arthur, arsene, Victor, Marcus, hadrien (I would pronounce that as in hadriens wall in Newcastle) and Maximilian.

Hello :) The ones that I think would translate well are:

For Baby Girl:
Celeste
Iris
Elise
Penelope
Violette
Ethel

For Baby Boy:
Arthur
Gregory (Grégoire)
Victor
Marcus
Adrien (Hadrien)
Max (Maximilian)

The only one I wouldn't know how to pronounce is Iseult, you should choose names you love though and not worry too much about our pronounciation, when I was at school there were a few kids who had foreign names and they only had to say/spell it once and people knew how to say it.

This country is so multicultural nowadays and foreign names blend in better than ever.

lovely names, ones that translate well are
Celeste, Iris, Elise, Violette (although we don't add the last te on the end over here)
Penelope, and Ethel. My fav is Celeste

Boys, Arther, Maximillian , Hadrian, Victor, Marcus, Gregory (is the uk spelling)
I would avoid Arsene, as Arson is a crime over here (starting a fire).

My fav is Gregory

Good luck with the english, a forum is great for helping you, and also good luck with choosing and congrats

Welcome to the UK! I think the girls' names that would work best are Iris, Elise and Celeste! I think Elise especially is a very pretty name! Arthur, Max and Gregoire would work best for the boys. Good luck with the move!

Lovely names! I think your choices will be pronounced here ok :)
