Hi, can anyone help me?

I did a pregnancy test this afternoon and after a couple of minutes it came up as a clear positive. We haven't been trying so it was a bit of a shock. I did another test straight away after (although didn't have a lot of wee left! - sorry for being graphic!) - this looked to have a very very faint line on it, but wasn't clear.

I drank a load of water and did another test about half and hour later and that came out negative.

I'm so confused!!!! Out of 3 tests I have a yes, a no and a maybe lol - it's like a magic eight ball!

Can anyone shed any light on this? Am I likely to be pregnant? Is it worth doing another test today?

Any help appreciated - thanks xxx

id imagine the other 2 were maybe and no because they didnt have as much hormone in them? hope u get ur bfp again

try agian with the first morning urine this is the strongest good luck

thank you very much ladies for your advice! I'll let you know!

It's looking good!

When you drank all that water you ruined testing, thats why first morning urine is the best, you want it undiluted

Well - it's all been very interesting since then.....

I did another test the following morning - negative. I did another one this morning - also negative!

Now I am really confused!!!!!

The first 2 tests that came out positive were Asda own brand tests - I then bought some clearblues which are the ones that said negative - is it likely that the other tests (being cheaper) are wrong?

I've booked an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow anyway - as I'm generally feeling exhausted so if not pregnant I want to know why! I wonder if they might be able to shed a little light?

Has this happened to anyone else before????

I'm in a really difficult situation in that we are due to go on holiday on Monday with friends and a lot of wine has been purchased - if I don't definitely know I'm NOT pregnant, I wont feel comfortable drinking - but there's no way I'll get that past my friends without them asking questions and I dont want them to be the first to know it's a possiblity

AAAAAAARGH!

HELP!

Oh also - I notice a lot of you said about urine concentration etc. I first tested when I got home from a busy day at work and hadn't had a drink for a good few hours - maybe this is why it came out positive? But in which case why wouldn't it show up in the morning????

sorry - I dont know what you mean I'm a bit new to all this!

Some are 10mlu and some 25mlu. You could show a positive on a 10mlu and a negative on a 25mlu as the 10 is detecting the slightest amount of hormone.
On the pack, or in the instructions, it'll say what strength the test is.

oooh - didnt know that. I will just go an raid the bin lol

well the Asda ones (the ones that showed positive) are 25mlu

I can't see which the Clearblue ones are......

Sorry for being so clueless!

Just googled clearblue hcg strength and it looks likea 50mlu!
So it looks very possible you are pregnant to me!

omg well that is useful information definitely!

perhaps I should buy some more of the ASDA ones and see what happens.....

It's so weird - we weren't trying at all so it's a complete suprise (but a welcome one - it's something we both want) - sorry if that seems insensitive to those who are trying! I wasn't sure what to think at first but now I'd be really disappointed if it turned out to be a big no!

I'm almost tempted to nip out and get some more now - except I'm wearing a dressing gown!

If youre going to the doctors they might send you for a blood test, so I'd save my money as blood tests are the most accurate, but if you do another asda one in 2 days (it wont rise enough to be that much stronger in 24hours) then you can see if it's getting ddarker, and wasnt a fluke false positive. Asda brand tests are going to be pretty accurate I'd think.

Thanks so much for all your wonderful and friendly advice!

I'll be driving past ASDA tomorrow so I might pick one up anyway - just because it's Friday tomorrow and blood tests might not come through for a while (we're away as of Monday).

I will keep you updated and, in the meantime, wish you much success in your own baby-making endeavours!

good luck re testing :cheer: and how lucky you'll just be happening to drive past asda  :rotfl:

it is actually true and just happens to be incredibly convenient ;)
