Update : so 30 hours after calling them and 42 hours with no heating they are finally calling British gas looks like instead if going out on the nursery mums Xmas do (first time out since June) I'm gonna be sat in waiting for an engineer. I could cry x

Have you called British gas since they did? I'd call them and say the landlord has called them but may not have said about the boys and you can't wait another 4 days without heating

Doesnt your LL have a legal obligation to fix it asap or provide another source of heat? I'm sure if the gas company have to cut off gas/elec they have to provide any vulnerable people in the affected areas with electric heaters etc! Really hope you get it sorted soon Hun xx

Bloody hell thats ridiculous id be tempted to ring bg just to check myself. Where do you live? I have an electric heater spare i could drop off if you live anywhere near manc or lpool x

That's what I thought MM&I even the environmental health person I spoke to said the same! But nothing! Heard nothing about extra heat! I'm gonna be making a formal complaint about the agency I think. We are spending our third night without heating and this is just the beginning because if it needs a new boiler it could be another week!!! X

I've just rung shelter for advice. Apparently, the landlord has no legal obligation to provide alternative heat. Also, he is denned to be doing everything he can because the letting agents have arrange someone to come out. He has a 'reasonable amount of time' to get it fixed. Thing is the only person that can decide what is reasonable is a judge if it goes to court, which it won't!!

Thing is the landlord is a really nice man, it's the agency. It could be that the LL is putting his faith in the agency to sort and is unaware of their attitude.

Shelter have advised me that I should write to LL and explain about the agency, and also if it does go to minus conditions think about staying at mums and requesting a reduction in rent for those days. He ties my have to agree to that either lol

All very well, but that doesn't help that I'm looking at 4th night no heating, a baby with a cold and my sugar levels are going haywire :/ dunno if that's the cold or stress. Either way, not good xx
