Wel i posted a little while ago as the doctor noticed the other day I have a missed heartbeat. It can get worse with the pressure put on me in pregnancy so they want to monitor me. They dont think it's got worse however i have been referred to a cardiologist at the hospital to double check all is okay and they are happy for me to go into labour, im assuming if not ill have a planned cesearean. Also, it will mean i see consultants instead of the midwife. does anyone else see consultants, are your appointments more freqent and are they at the antenatal unit, what do they involve? fingers crossed all is okay anyway and they let me continue as i am, I was actually looking forward to going through the natural birth thing believe it or not, plus i hear you can take weeks to recover from ceseareans is that right? Tanks guys. xxxx

hi hun cant give u any advice about apps with docs but didnt want to read and run, i hope u really get the labour u want chick, and i hope ur pregnancy is smooth.
As for dection yes it can take weeks to recover I have had 2 and im really hoping this time i dont have too

Good luck with everything hun

I am consultant led after being treated for abnormal cervical cells this year. I still see my midwife as normal but have additional appointment with the consultant, the first being at my 20 week scan and the next in the same place 2 months later.

hiya hun if you wanna chat any time about it or need advise feel free to pm me, i have a ehart problem as i said before lol i see my midwife as normal (like anyone would) and i see a consultant every month who deals with pregnant mothers and babies hearts, also i see a consultant cardiologist every month, it normaly co insides in the same week like on the 5th i have a app to see my cardiologist then on the 8th i have a cardiac fetal scan which my consultant ( heart baby pregnancy person lol) will do, it gets so confusing but i basicly go to all appointments and know all the consultants by their first name lol they are all so lovely :D it's not much to worry about hun, also if you want to know what happens during my cardiology app's feel free to pm me (they tend to do the same for everyone)

Im under a consultant due to my disability and thyroid problems. I saw them in December and again in Feb near my 20 week scan. So they are not too frequent, I has also been told Im having a c section :( but hey whatever is best for me and spud. Happy New Year, take care  XX

Hey hun I was seeing a consultant due to my previous miscarriages, but I still saw my midwife as well I just had more scans and at every scan I saw the consultant also, (I have had 4 scans so far) I have just had my 20 week scan and all looks ok so have been taken off consultant visits, (although I do go back for another scan next monday) I wouldnt worry the extra checks were really reassuring for me and I am sure they will be for you as well.

I'm also seeing a cardiology pg consultant though I can't see that they'll say much. The first appointment is Friday 13th February...

Natural birth may well be the better option anyway. The problem with a caesarean is the anaesthetic, which they don't like giving to ppl with heart problems at the best of times - though of course it depends on your individual circumstances. I'm intending to avoid as many drugs as possible - I don't want to be given an epidural only to discover it triggers a cardiac seizure!

Thanks everyone and thanks Anna. It's such a relief to know there are other people to talk to! Well i've not had my appointment come through yet for the cardio but as you all say, its more reassuring to have more appointments anyway so its good to be well looked after and monitored, fingers crossed all is well and really hope you guys are all okay also. xxx
