Yesterday I took Max to get weighed, as he has a problem with being sick I was told he has a reflux problem so at 4 months I was advised by HV to start slowing introducing solids, which seemed to work great :D He has also been on Staydown for 4 months now. Anyway, I have given him cows milk with his breakfast and he screamed after projecting it he also did the same with egg and yoghurt! So i mentioned a while ago to HV that maybe he has a slight dairy intolerance, again i was told "he will grow out of being sick, dont worry about it he is gaining weight ok"

Yesterday, I saw a completely different HV and mentioned again about a dairy intolerance as his nappies were bad after milk etc, as well as being really sick and screaming, after nearly 20 mins of talking to her about his feeds and times etc, she turned round and said to me "well now he is over 6 months he can have cows milk" i nearly punched her :wall: but instead just said "have you not listened to anything i have just said?? finally she suggested that maybe i see a GP and get him referred for tests, my cousins daughter has a milk intolerance but they only managed to find out when she was 3 years old!! and i am not prepared to wait that long to find out if he has or not!

Well sorry so long and for the rant, but i was so p****ed off with HV but at least i will eventually find out now!!

Ethan had this!!!

He screamed constanly when he was a baby, was always being sick, it would fly out of him, it was horrible to see, but he was gaining weight so i got fobbed off by the HV and the Docs, i took hi to see them so many times and begged them to do something, but they just brushed me aside and said he was gaining weight so he was fine.

He got to 9 months, wasnt sitting, rolling, crawling, nothing! the only thing he was doing, was crying and being sick.
by then i had really had enough so i changed my docs, and on the first vist with my new doc he said it was a milk allergy and put him on soya milk.

he was a totaly diffrent baby within a few days! sitting up, smliling, laughing, it was so great, and he stopped being sick.

it was hard at first coz i had to read the labels of everything i brought him, Charlie would have nice biscuts and Ethan had to have horrible plain things with no milk in. he grew out of it by the time he was 2 years old.

dont give up!!! if you think Max has this then push for testing, docs and Hv can be so bloody horrid sometimes.

Also, when Charlie and Ethan were little, they werent allowed cows milk till they were 12 months old, has that changed now? coz if it has then i can put Coby on cows milk instead of the follow on milk at 6 months

They can have cows milk at 6 months but not as their main milk until 12 months

ahh right, makes sence now.

thanks :)

I have got Max some Rice Milk and soya yoghurts to see if that makes any difference, that is what my normal HV suggested when she rang me! Dont worry im not going to give up, im fed up of being fobbed off now!

i had the same problem with both of my 2 and have been agonising over what to do when LO is born as i have been advised to put her straight onto soya milk rather than try her first and find out which im not happy about.

something was suggested to me earlier today theers a post about it here http://www.pregnancyforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=10994

the woman who told me about it reccommends it highly for her LO with lactose intolerance it may be worth trying to see if it helps Max?
