He screams when I leave him

Ryan has just turned 1 (gotta keep pointing that out cos I don't have a ticker anymore ) and for the past month or so he screams when I leave him at his Grandmas house.

He used to be alright but now I feel awful cos it's as though he doesn't want to be left with my Mam. She doesn't see it that way and she says he always calms down after I go but I still feel bad cos I want him to feel as comfortable with her as he does with me and OH.

Do they all get really clingy at around this age?

Nathan is sooo clingy, he drives me mad. He screams when ever hes not on my knee or being carried. I have to sneak out of the room to go the toilet or nip up stairs and as for going out the house without him, no chance unless he's in bed. Hes 16 months now and probably started it around 10-11 months so I'm guessing it's an age thing. No signs of it passing yet though

Defintely! when your with him at home when your sahm he should calm down a bit - you should sneak out your mums without him seeing.

sounds like serperation anxiety - perfectly normal stage. hew will grow out of it but in the meantime you have to reassure him that if you go you wioll come back. i personally wouldn't just disappear without warning as he will never know when you are going to go but instead say goodbye and just go. Perhapos do it for a short while - say 15 mins and build it up from there.
