So I asked DH to take me to Asda to get some shopping in tonight. I normally do a weekly shop but we are wasting far too much food due to his reluctance to cook.

So I tell him I'm going to get some things in that just need popped in the oven, its not ideal, but its the best compromise I can come up with. As this week he's so far fed me a chippy, a kfc and a mcdonalds

Also it gets me out of the house for an hour :yay:

So he says "yeah thats fine, but I'm getting a pizza on the way home"

I questioned him on this, his argument is he deserves it because of his hard work today (granted he's worked his bum off) ... I just see it as a waste of money

:wall2: I actually have no words

does he do all the cooking?

i do it all in our house and my rule is if Im cooking you are eating what i want too cook.

oh normally asks for takeaway. i do give in sometimes but try to cook...

some nights i can't be bothered and if he doesn't use his initiative and cook he goes without. xxxx

Sent from my shit hot phone! Fo shizzle home girls.

I normally cook but can't anymore so we are in the position ... I'll end up a fatty if I carry on!

Please excuse any typos from my fat fingers!

How about slow cooker meals? Just giving him a list of what to chop/prep etc and then you can put it in the slow cooker and then it'll be ready and hot when he gets home?

Tried that already, he wont do it :wall2:

I can't be annoyed at him about it either, because he is working so hard on the house.

My hubby is EXACTLY the same.

Loads of our money goes on takeaway stuff, and that is is after already allowing for food shopping, and I don't mean a fancy restaurant - I mean Starbucks

He insists on paying extortionate amounts on crappy coffee and toasties and then he'll get me one too and it's £20 gone like that and we have a kettle, we have coffee, we even have a toastie maker!

And all the while the bread at home is going stale and the cheese is going mouldy

I've even made meals in advance - he suddenly doesn't like bolognese anymore.

I worked out today that we have about £10 per day to last us until payday and we go to Tesco and he promptly spends £10 at Costa :wall2:

Why?!?!?!

Why can you not cook hun?

You can get ready made healthy meals delivered to your door & I cant for the life of me remember what they are called...

Would be ALOT healthier for you & the baby rather than take-aways ect.

I'd give your OH a slap, even though he's busy, theres no excuse for him feeding you & your baby all that rubbish, he should be putting you & baby first!!

:wall2:

If OH was left to "cook" we'd live on cereal, peanut butter sandwiches, maccy D and kebabs  I'll be making sure I have lots of stuff for the freezer come due date!!!

We tend to have a take away (or eat out) once a week as that is my night off!

Tweety as a compromise can you not get to an M&S (or I guess any supermarket will do) and pick up some of their healthy ready meals? They only need to be nuked in microwave - hubby can surely do that and open a packet of prepared salad?

Other options are jacket spuds - they just need to go in oven for 90 minutes and then hubby needs to heat up some beans?

Even fishfingers, oven chips and beans could work?

Agreed to the ready meals. I've just ordered a shop of easy food for Hubby to cook when he gets in from work (cooking makes me nauseous at the moment), like fresh pasta and sauces (pregnant Happyfeet loves gnocchi), pies and roasties for the freezer, croissants, quorn burgers - as they're so quick to do for lunch when I'm STARVING. It's much nicer than constant take aways.

I'm really hoping I can get back in my kitchen soon, I've got a craving for choc chip shortbread!! Just stamp your feet and cross your arms in a huff - say the baby is craving normal food!! How could he refuse that? Xx
