Thought I wrote it all down before it goes out of my mind! Went in for an induction last night and had the propess pessary inserted at 9:30pm! I sent oh home as I was obly 1cm dilated and mw wasn't hopeful that anything would happen within the 24 hours! Woke up to go to the toilet at 3:30 am and had no pains whatsoever but couldn't get back to sleep! By 4am I was experiencing some discomfort and by 4:45 was in regular pain so asked mw for paracetomol! At 5:30 rang other half and told him to get there quick as I was in agony! He arrived at 5:50 and buzzed midwife- student mw came and asked me if I would like codeine or diamorphone, I said morphine and so the other mw went to get it! In the meantime the contractions were so bad that I was knelt on the floor and screaming ( another mw came and comforted me) other mw came back and said she would do an examination first to make sure I wasn't in established labour! I was 4cm dilated and I then realised that I was bleeding so she said I would need to go to labour ward rather than birth centre! By the time they had wheeled me upstairs I was 6cm and screaming with every contraction! I had only had paracetomol up to this point! I then recieved gas and air ( best invention ever) I then took about half an hour to get to 10cm and began to push! I was put on a drip as babies hb was dropping ( I was unaware of this due to pain thank god! Baby Hannah was delivered at 7:35am! Not the calm water birth I was hoping for and consultant told me afterwards that if I hadn't been so good at pushing then she was about to rush me off for an emergency c section! All that is now forgotten and baby is doing well! Breastfeeding well and has had a couple of formula top ups as her blood sugar dropped too low but I love her so much and she was worth every second of pain including the cut, the tear and the ventouse xx
