A midwife came and gave me a sweep today since i'm one day overdue. I was really apprehensive about it and thought it would be agony as I had an internal a number of weeks ago which I found really sore.

It was not nearly as bad as I had expected. It certainly wasn't pleasant but just a bit uncomfortable not sore as such. The disappointing news is that my cervix is really far back and completely closed so she wasn't able to carry out the sweep properly. She is coming back next Thurs to do another one and said it will be less uncofortable next time as she had to go quite far in my bits to reach the cervix. If next week fails and there is still no sign of bambino then i'm getting induced on 11 Feb and have to go into hospital pm on the 10th :( I really hope it doesn't come to that!

I was a bit down after my appointment today. I don't know what I wanted her to say but am getting a bit fed up being pregnant and the thought of another two weeks is a bit daunting. In saying that I have been keeping really well and am very mobile so I don't suppose I have reason to complain.

Baby is obviously very cosy and given that its freezing cold and snowing outside s/he is probably being quite sensible staying put for a wee bit longer :)

You'd think in this day and age they would have invented some sort of 'sweeping tool' and not just say "sorry love, me fingers can't reach your cervix, you're just gonna have to stay preggo for the time being till another midwife with bigger hands can get to see you".

You're only a day over anyway so not too urgent :D
