Had early scan but still a bit worried - am I just going mad

Hi

I am the worlds biggest worrier so today paid for a private early scan - am according to the ultrasound 6 weeks 3 days and all is right place and we saw black dot heart and it was fluttering away so burst into tears with excitement as had really believed something was wrong since finding out I was pregnant as this one has been so different to my first.

Anyway all was great until the lady said she would like to rescan me in two weeks as it was very early days and baby is only 4mm so couldn't see it all clearly. She said it was nothing to worry about but now i am obviously worrying and two weeks is a long time to worry. I also apparently have a cyst on my right overy which is "quite normal" ???

Has anyone else had this when they have seen the heartbeat?

I had a cyst too and it wasnt a problem in respect of the pregnancy.Do you think as your payings she just might want to double check as thats what your paying for, peace of mind??

A heart beat so early is a good sign.

The heartbeats a great sign.

I also have a cyst, it does have a particular name and basically thats the ovary that released the egg that got you pregnant and is left-overs from when the cells emerged from it to implant

from others that have had early scans I know quite often the sonographers haven't been able to see much till at least 7 weeks...The fact you have a heartbeat is a great sign.

I think so many women have cysts on their ovaries and it's something that the person scanning notices while they are in there so they just mention it in passing. I really don't think it's anything to worry about.
When I had a scan I was told I had one, and the girl was really flippant about it like it wasn't a big deal at all.

I totally understand that you're still worrying, it's like you're relieved when you see the heartbeat and are told everything is okay, but a few days down the line you're like 'anything could have gone wrong by now!' and you need another scan to reassure yourself all over again!
I don't think we'll stop worrying! It's great that you're getting another scan and another chance to see that everything is ok. Try not to worry, it makes sense that at 4mm it would be hard to see very much.

I was scanned really early in my last pregnancy I was only about 4.5 weeks and was told there was a cyst there but it was normal as that's what the baby gets its nutrients from before the placenta kicks in.

Thank you so much - feel much better now. Still worry but then if i'm not worrying about something, i worry about what i should be worrying about! Oh i wish i was much more laid back and relaxed!!!

Hi daisy!

I wouldnt worry at all if i were you. i had my scan a couple of days ago, and was 6 weeks and 2 days. i could see the heartbeat, and the baby was tiny, also about 5mm it think. doc said everything looked fine, not to worry , and to go back for another check up in 2 weeks.

i wouldnt worry yourself at all, i know its hard though!
