You may recall i asked what sciatica(sp) felt like a couple of weeks ago. I pretty much decided it wasnt that, but the pain has got not better.
Its in my right butt cheek and i only really feel it when i go to bed at night.
Its sore lying flat on my back with my legs straight. Raising one leg alleiviates the pain.
Saw doc today and she thinks its a trapped nerve and is sending me to physio.

Im not so sure after a bit googling (really bad idea for self diagnosing btw) i reckon its ligament pain coming from my pelvis.
So physio is calling me tommorow for an appintment, seemingly ill get seem pretty quick and ill let you know.

She also gave me something for the heart burn. Cant remeber what its called ...starts with an M ill try it tommorow and let you know if its any good.

Hope tomorrow goes well for you. I am having similar pains and my GP gave me Paracetamol and said I don't need a physio. I am going to see him again as the pain is becoming unbearable and I can't cope at work.

I have had similar pain and had physio last week they were really good and gave me excercises 2 help and also a support belt to wear at work which really hepls. I thought it was sciatica but its jst all the muscles and ligaments softening and stretching. Hope u get on ok

I've been having similar pain but now I also get burning in the front of my pelvis and other pelvis/upper leg pains so I'm at the physio tomorrow. I feel a bit bad as I've had a few good days but then the other night everytime I moved in bed the pain flared up and I hardly slept so hopefully I'll get something from the appt tommorrow!

Hope you get an appointment quickly, mine was 2-3 weeks which isn't bad really.

Back from the physio - she was really good and helpful!

But a word of warning, she asked me to strip to my underwear, so make sure you're wearing good stuff as I wasn't!

She asked me to do a few movements like bending over while she looked at my pelvis and said I was a bit unbalanced! Didn't realise she was a psychologist too! :D

She's given me some exercises to do (pelvic floor and deep abdominal) and a maternity belt to wear to help support my pelvis.

So hopefully it'll help reduce the pain!

Thanks for the underwear warning, hope the exercises work for you

Hi,

Just wanted to share my experience. With DS i had what i was told was sciatica throughout my pregnancy. Got so bad in the last tri i couldn't get out of bed very well (took me an hour) and couldn't bear weigh on my left leg and had tons of time off work.

When i had booking in i told mw and she refered me to matrnty physio straight away. I have had 2 appointments now! They see you every 3 weeks. Turns out it is actually PGP (Pelvic Girdle Pain). The Relaxin hormone released when preg loosens the ligamens. For me it affect the left side of my pelvis and the Sacroilliac Joint.

She has given me loads of advice on how to prevent the pain. Excersie and some manipulations of my pevis that really help. This week she has given me a support belt as i am on my own (DP working away) and looking after a 14 month old! The belt holds your pelvis toether and does help.

Try googling PGP. There is loads of advice. But i'm glad they listened to me this time and hopefully although it is stil painful i'll not be bed ridden by 36 weeks!

Love Lau
