Had amnio today

Just back from amniocentesis today. It didn't hurt too much, just hope everything will be fine and the baby isn't too offended by the intrusion!
At least OH got to get a good long look at junior during the scan when they check where the baby is lying, he was quite excited. I couldn't really see (boooh).

If you don't mind me asking what was your risk rating?

Two, my risk rating for Down's was 1:445, but I am 39 and wanted to make sure. I'll get the initial results tomorrow afternoon, so no long wait! And the full results in two weeks.

That's good at least you don't have to wait too long.

I'm just waiting for my letter to come through with my rating. I'm 37 and this is my first, I am expecting a high result mainly due to my age but have always said I won't have the amnio but am starting to think again now - i'm in two minds, guess I will just have to wait till I receive the confirmation letter and take it from there.

Yes, It's good that the wait isn't too long.
It's a difficult decision whether to have an amnio, take your time. Hope everything goes well for you!!

you're braver than me. I turned the amnio down. My risk was 1/225 which apparently is high risk. I'm 28.
