Got my growth scan at 2pm and consultant at 2.10 today and really dunno what they are gonna say or do. Iv gotta try and ask if i can be put back on low risk because the midwife at the hospital put me on high risk due to me seeing a consultant even though the consultant said its fine to birth a big baby. I cant wait till hes here. I dont think its gonna happen anytime soon though as my OH put a EPO capsule up me last night and he had a feel and said it was all hard up there :/ lol

And wondering how much weight hes put on in 2weeks :D anyone wanna take guesses? he was 7lb 2oz 2weeks ago today :) x

no idea about how much weight he might have gained but I hope all goes well this afternoon! Stand firm with what you want and make sure OH backs you up if he's there :) Good luck!

Good luck, put ur foot down lol xx

at the increase of 1/2lb a week I will guess at 8lb
Good luck today

PS: happy 38 weeks :D

It might be the last week for you though!! Oooh its so exciting i might come back from scan and you might be having your baby!! Makes it so more real when things start happening :) x

considering I seem to have been stuck on 30 minutes for the last 7 hours I think this will take some time... I'll still be here I am sure

But at least things are happening :) I cant wait till i start getting contractions, but ill panic and be like i need hospital now, my labour with my daughter was 7hours from start of contractions to birth so this time i think itll be quicker :/ x

Hope everything goes well with your scan :) Ours was measuring at 6lb 10oz at 35+2 and i'm still low risk... You'll be fine! x

Good luck Becks!
Theres a really good web site about birthing bigger babies, sorry i dont have the link handy but google it to see. It might give you confidence to stick to your guns in case they want to intervene needlessly.
Keep us posted as to how you get on.

Just got Home baby is weighing 7lb 12oz. Iv got an appointment at 40weeks to be induced ASAP. :( and im still on high risk and have to have a Dr at the birth. So really today didnt go too well. baby is still 2/5ths engaged which isnt classed as engaged at all. And she didnt tell me which way hes laying but i think hes half back to back half on my left side. Doesnt look like baby will be here anytime soon unless im induced. x

Awww  No way! Cant believe they're making such a fuss. Ours is looking at being a bigger baby and they've not mentioned anything like they have to you, maybe they have a different policy at your hospital. Have they said why they're worried? x

Just because hes going to be big, looking at 9lb+ now as he hasnt put on much weight but i dont see why they are being the way they are when iv had a big baby before with no complications. But i guess iv still got 2weeks to go into labour by myself if not then i guess im gonna have to be induced, just dunno how its gonna work with my daughter and OH not being able to start his leave till babys actually here.

Oh and i forgot to say they have offered me a sweep at the 40 weeks appt too and then obviously book the induction for ASAP after that appt. Hoping the midwife next week will give me a sweep if she can just to see if that gets me going x

Thats a shame theyre making such a fuss when youre body knows what its doing!
Induction isnt the end of the worls though and at least there'll be no midnight runs to hospital.
I was induced at 10 days with my second child and after a few short hours of relatively pain free and drug free labour delivered a 10lb 4 oz girl with no complications whatsoever :)
As long as you and baby are healthy and fine

Hmmmm...suppose it's good news they're offering you a sweep. Ours was 6lb10 at 35+2 (4 weeks ago tomorrow) and they say that they put on about 1/2lb a week right? So ours is going to be pushing 8lb 10oz now so he/she'll be about 9lb at 40 weeks.

My consultant wants me to have a sweep asap, because of baby's size, after my due date so i'm in to see my MW next Fri for one but i'm really confused. Some MW's think baby is a whopper and others think he/she is normal...suppose there's only one way we'll find out! lol! x

im measuring big for dates but mw has never even talked about sending me for a growth scan monty was 8lb 13oz so not massive but a good size, Why did yo get sent for scan in first place?

These hospital scans are rarely right though, that's the trouble !

I am tall with a long middle to hide the baby, each time with my three kids , they have gone on and on about being small for dates, and they were only right for the last baby! , but that was a different hospital to thr one I had the two boys at. 6 lb 11 oz, 7lb 2 and 5lb 15 oz, but when you think they were all born early for planned section, they would have been 8 lb really at term, so not small except her. try to go with it, or if you want to wait push for what you want, this is your baby hun X

I had the growth scan yesterday booked from 20weeks as the consultant was worried about me having another big baby but i was sent for one 2weeks ago which was due to me measuring 3weeks bigger and had only been 2weeks ahead before so the midwife got concerned. He`s only put on 10oz in 2weeks and the consultant yesterday said that in the later stages of pregnancy babys dont put on that much weight and his growth was good. So i think this whole 1/2lb a week is a maximum of doesnt mean babys putting on that much weight.

Im not too worried about being induced just the fact it might lead to c-section if hes stubborn and the fact they dont class labour till your 4cm so my OH wont beable to come to the hospital till im 4cm if its during night or day which wont take long to happen if my labour is quicker then my last.
Just hoping i go into labour before 40weeks but im still gonna have a Dr looking over me and doing what i really dont know :/ x

Good luck Becks!

I found a website about birthing bigger babies i dunno if its the same one as youve mentioned but its just made me feel even worse lol

It says i should stay as mobile as possible during labour and would be better to labour/birth in a birthing pool, which im not gonna get a chance to go near as im high risk so thats that one out the window. And keeping mobile i dunno how im gonna do that with the high risk rooms being not that big and having a HUGE window for the whole world to see me :/ and also having a Dr in there prob checking me constantly.

Next thing i read was that theu shouldnt be inducing me for a big baby as it leads to too many interventions ie csections and its more painful. Also that if im anxious then ill slow my labour down which is going to happen if i stay on high risk as i want a low risk labour room but im not gonna get that now.

I no that if i tell them all this in 2weeks they will just shrug it off and still go with what they want to do. Im not very forceful when it comes to these things but i just dont see how im gonna get out of being induced.

My mums told me to have loads of sex and eat loads of currys but i just think im gonna go a week over again as i did with my daughter and my body might just do a 41week pregnancy. x
