Got the Ovitrelle trigger shot!

Bit nervous but I want to make sure I definitely ovulate this time so opted for the shot. Any tips? Nurse said to do it to the left or right of my tummy under the belly button and to pinch some fat to push it into. I never look at needles when I have injections because they usually make me feel sick or faint, so I'm not sure whether to ask DH to do it or brave it myself. He might not be very good at it but at least I wouldn't have to see it! Also on the instructions it says you need alcohol wipes but we didn't realize this till we got home and read the instructions! Prob need a small plaster too!

oh goodness I didn't realise that you had to do it yourself! I think i would still want to do it, if it hurt or didn't work I know my DH and I would fall out over it lol - he's more of a wuss than I am with these things!

You don't need alcohol wipes or a plaster. It's easy and doesn't hurt

I did mine in thigh and OH did it for me you'll be fine. I didn't pinch skin tho, just into wobblyest bit, he pushed button and held for 10 sec and done xxxx

I'm not keen on jabbing myself, I would get husband to do it for me. He isn't bothered by such things as injects cattle on a regular basis although he would need reminding my skin isn't as tough as a cow or it would be massive bruises!

That's funny! I wish I had a handy nurse as a neighbour that could come round at 11pm, ha ha!

Unfortunately you're a bit too far away from me or I'd happily oblige!

Honestly you'll be fine hon. I actually wouldn't pinch the skin on your tummy - more likely to bruise that way. The needle is very small and very thin - just pop it in gently and it will be almost painless I promise.

Can I ask, is it an injection like what you would get at the doctors or is it more like a pen? I suspect I will need a trigger shot next month unless they decide to do something else x

Thanks Mishi! Yes its like a pen Belfa but the needle is about 15mm long. You have to assemble it yourself. I freaked a bit when I saw it so DH did it and was an absolute star! I sat up so that I could get some fat to inject into but didn't actually pinch it. The needle just felt like a little scratch, it was absolutely fine! I feel so relieved now and got a smilie face on an OPK already this morning!

I think I've ovulated already cos I felt a little twinge on the side where the dominant follicle was. I hope its not too soon cos the IUI is booked for tomorrow!

It went well thanks, feel quite crampy from all the different speculums used to try to find my shy cervix! But I hardly felt the tube go in this time. Feel much more positive and relaxed this time and got an acupuncture appointment booked for next week! Fingers crossed!
