Got date scan but feels so far away!

I found out this afternoon (having had to call in twice!!) that my dating scan has now been booked in for Thursday 19th April. I should be happy that i finally have a date but instead i just feel gutted that it is still over 2 weeks away and we can't start telling the rest of our friends/family until nearly the end of the month (We have been avoiding calling family as feel awkward 'lying' to people when they ask how its going TTC!) I'm also peeved that I will be 13w + 3d at this point and feel that it is being left a little late! I let them know that i was due when i was 5 weeks... why does it have to take so long!

I'm wondering if i have time to get a private scan booked in (and if i can talk hubby into having it done privately)

Just a bit deflated as I'm desperate to see my baby.

Oh sorry to hear you have to wait so long. You would def be able to get a private scan sooner than that! It's a bit concerning I have only just had my referral done today and I am 9 weeks so goodness know how long I will have to wait for my dating scan if you put yours in at 5 weeks!
My doctor said there has been a huge increase in pregnancy and the hospitals are copying with the demand. :-/

Hey hun, I know 2 weeks feels like a lifetime, but you've waited 6 weeks already so that's just a fraction of the time!

Its normal for scans to be between 11-14 weeks

If you want the Downs Syndrome screening I would def call back hun and ask for a cancellation or something?

You could easily get put forward at the dating scan and I think the nuchal fold measurement needs to be taken by 13 6d?

If you are not having the screening then I would wait - it feels like forever away BUT just think how much you will get to see?

Without wanting to wish time away here's hoping that both our scan dates are here before we know it!

Also, Carnat - we are due to have the nuchal fold test so will wait for hubby to get home and see how he would feel if it couldn't be done for some reason (He's the one who wants it). I also have to get the date set as he needs to go away for work but has been waiting for the scan date before he confirms with work that he can go.

I've got my first scan on the 19th this month as well! It does go by so slowly. I remember with my first it was an amazing experience. I was so shocked at how much you saw! I can't wait. Hopefully they'll tell me I have a very, very healthy baby on the way and i've no reason to panic!
