Glucose Test

Morning,

I have my glucose today today as my nan has diabetes..

I haven't eaten since 9pm last night & can't eat until they are done.

Says I have to be there for about 2hours so that means about 11:30am - I am starving already!!

Anyone know what it is I have to do while im there??!! Perhaps I should take a book or something..

You do nothing! You have to sit quietly for 2 hours. I've had to go in work time and taken the laptop so I could work from the hospital. I'd take a book, magazine and fully charged phone! I hopefully get my results today from mine. xx

They take some bloods, give you a revolting drink that you have to sip (if you try and down it you will prob be sick) and then after 2 hours you have more blood taken and that's it

Some places are happy for you to leave and go back in for the 2nd lot of bloods as long as you agree to not eat or drink anything other than water. My GP let me go this time so I just went shopping and went back for second test but in my last pregnancy I had to sit there so just read a book x

I had blood taken 830am
Given a big glass of flat lucozade to drink within a minute
Then couldn't go anywhere for 2 hours
I wasn't even allowed to drink water
About 1030ish my bloods were taking again and i then scoffed some food
It totally wiped me out though i felt crap the rest of the day x

Can't believe they didn't let you drink water! That is horrible! God knows what their reasons were x

Definately bring entertainment lol. Id bloods done then had to drink that stuff. Sit for an hour have 2nd bloods then wait another hour and have 3rd then went home. They were happy enough for me to leave but prefared if i stayed incase i had side effects xx

I had mine a couple of weeks ago, sooooooo boring! Defo take mags or a book, and music! X

I had bloods taken at 9am - then had 5 minutes to drink 200ml of the sugary drink and a small cup of water then had to wait 2 hours for another sample of blood! I just sat in the chair & chilled out - it was lovely! Didn't know if I was allowed to go to the toilet or not though so had to ask lol xx

I've been sat here for an hour so far..

Literally want to fall asleep!!

Already thinking about all of the food I want to ram in my face - straight to the hospital café after this I feel so tired!!

My arms are covered in holes too - the glamour..

Have a snooze! I felt really rough after but I was told the first time I couldn't drink water so was quite dehydrated.

Why are they covered in holes?? How many jabs did they do? I enjoyed my food after sooooo much, it will be the best lunch you've had in a while. Glad I enjoyed my food that day- got told the next that I had GD after all! X

I read a book and the surgary had a sea view so I looked out if the window. I also line people watching. xx
