I think they make them so they breathe an allow air through but I have never tried them...my eyes are relly sensitive and i alaways ended upwith eye infections if I nodded off with my normal contacts in 
I have the daily disposable ones, they are so comfy, and no need to clean them, just take em out and chuck em at end of day, and start with a fresh pair next time
They are fab for holidays, easy to pack as they come individually in blister packs, and you have always got spares (I have them in every handbag!)
