Giving birth naked????

Thought I might have to start thinking about hospital bag at some point.

What are you all planning on wearing while giving birth. I read somewhere about buying a big t-shirt.

I'm having a water birth so I'll be naked I guess.

i didn't have a water birt but i was still naked! I didn't want anything touching me!

Something with access to your boobs is useful for the first breastfeed, but obviously if naked that's not an issue. Some women who give birth in water wear tankini tops.. I didn't plan Isaac's birth outfit, it was a nightie with sheep on it I just want to make sure this time around I have a lovely fluffy dressing gown

I've bought a big black mans t-shirt in size XL, it was only a couple of quid so i don't mind if it gets cut for skin to skin and I'll just chuck it away afterwards. I'm not having LO in a pool but have seen a lot of waterbirths on Home Birth Diaries (my favourite TV show ATM) and most women are either naked of have a crop top type thing on, some do have t-shirts but that just looks uncomfortable IMO.

I brought a cheap front opening nightie yesterday for my hospital bag I dont like it so will be quite happy for it to get wrecked and was nice and cheap, not sure how cool it will be though

Ooops, i've packed my bag and not bothered with any labour clothes, i kinda just figured i'd be in the pool nice and naked lol, or i'd have the top i come in with on and then change to come home.

I may put in a t-shirt or something but i dont think i'll be bothered. I would borrow Dave's t-shirts but they only just fit past bump and i stretch them lol, and if i put tankini in i think id jsut wanna get everything out anyway if i'm trying to BF

Agh i forgot they have hospital gowns, im sure if im that bothered about clothes i could wear one of them as it can be thrown away after, problem solved lol

Sorry shouldn't laugh but that sounded funny a big black mans t-shirt, what's wrong with a small white man?

We are going to try and proove my Mum's theory wrong. When she had my 2 brothers she wore a blue nightie and when she had me she wore a pink nightie. I'm convinced we are having a boy so DH said go and get a pink nightie and see if my Mum's theory works?!?

hiya, i had to wear a hozzie gown for my emergency c section, for jess before i had my c section i turned up in my normal clothes, for rebecca i just wore a top, no bottoms well there wasnt much point. my top ended up covered in blood and wouldnt wash out so i ended up throwing it away. so id take/get anything u dont mind throwing away after labour.

ive bought a black strappy nightie, one of them t-shirt material ones..

Midwife told me its soooooo hot in the birthing room, that its best wearing minimal stuff if not naked!!

dont really fancy being naked, coz im a bit shy... altho i bet im carefree when the time actually comes!!!

but still.................. im just wearing that.... its strappy too so i can just slip if down IF i manage to breastfeed!!

well if all goes to plan and I get my water birth as planned, I was thinking of just wearing a bikini top and no bottoms

if not, and im on the bed like a beached whale, then i think one of OH's nice big t-shirts. dont really mind the thought of being naked, but we'll see how it goes!!! xxxxxx

I'm off to Peacocks tomorrow to find something. Definitely I need to get a thin dressing gown. Last time I was in hospital I made the mistake of wearing a really thick fleecey dressing gown and had to wait all morning for my op, I was sweating like a pig by the time I went to theatre!!!!!!

i went to primark and bought 4 big nighties that have buttons down the front so i can undo them to feed Sophie. I am going to be wearing a bra in labour i know that, i cant stand having my big boobs flopping out,they need some support haha

In the pool something like a tee shirt would get in the way for the MW and also would not feel nice as once it gets wet and then you lift out of the water a bit it might feel chilly. You could be in there a few hours.

MW will need to monitor you regularly with hand held doppler when in the pool and to check you also on occasion so you'll want to just let her just reach over and put the doppler on and not worry about having to lift your tee shirt up so she can put it in the right place. Its the last thing I'd have wanted to be doing when a contraction was hitting me or I was coming down from one.

If you want to wear something in the birth pool get a tankini or a bikini top and just have your boobs covered. A tankini means your bump where the MW needs to reach won't be covered (think below belly button).

TBH naked is best IMHO, or as close to it as you can get Dignity goes out the window when in labour but the birth pool is so calming and being naked is good

I'm going to grab a big baggy strappy night dress from good old Primark, but may end up whipping it off as I get so hot so quickly and it will bug me if I get sweaty and it sticks to me!!

I would like to have a water birth so already got a matty tankini from mother care. Also gonna take a nightie from Primark or something...
