So today I am 33+4. I am currently in hospital having had my first dose of steroids at lunch time. Second dose due tomorrow lunch time. This baby is big and my consultants don't think I'll go beyond 36 weeks now. Provisionally booked in for a section on the 25th Sep when I will be 35+6.

Yesterday I had a scan of the placenta and amniotic fluid as I had a growth scan just a week before and they only do growth scans fortnightly. The AFI was in the 97th centile suggesting Polyhydroamnios and that the baby has grown significantly in the last week. Hence the steroids preparing him for a preterm labour.

Therefor I could have a baby in arms in just over 2 weeks.

Insulin increased by 50% to counter act the reaction the steroids have (producing to much sugar) levels seem ok but higher so may need to increase further.

In for 1 night at least (tonight) possibly but hopefully not 2 nights depending on how my body reacts to the second steriod injection.

I never dreamt if this happening and feel quite alone. Thank God I have my mother she is a pure legend and rock throughout everything

I can't help on the diabetic side but know the worry delivering large babies can bring. I have no words of wisdom unfortunately but wanted to wish you all the luck in the world. X

Hi Kelly. At least they are monitoring you and I'm sure all they are doing is just to make sure you and little one are both safe and healthy. I can only imagine how scary it must be but exciting that your baby could be here with you in just over two weeks!!! Good luck with everything hun xxx
