Could you please tell me a basic amounts of what I can eat in the day and what I can have, my levels this afternoon after dinner are 8.1 and should be 7.8 but admitedly I did have a bag of maltesers this morning as it totally went over my head :dohh:

Sorry hun i havent been on!

I dont think there is a limit on how much you consume to affect your result, its what you eat and how soon after (ie your body processing the sugars)

What did you have for dinner? and how long after did you test?

Sorry im rubbish at wording things

"I dont think there is a limit on how much you consume to affect your result"

im talking food not sugar. If you ate lettuce leaves all day it would not affect them but if you sat there eating mars bars all day then obviously . . . . lol sorry im so bad at wording things

Lol :)

I only ate some soup and some bread with some dairylea, wasnt that hungry if I'm honest!! Was probably the maltesers that did it!

it wouldnt suprise me if the dairylea had sugar in it but dont really eat it so not sure, maybe have a quick check of the packet.

That's not too much over so depending on what time you had the (naughty) maltesers :) xxx

Hmmm lol I need some sweeties I can eat the diabetic ones right? :)

if it was white bread it may have been that they are not good for sugars try and find foods with a low gi hun and google lists of whats high gi and whats not as it surprising what pushes sugars up i had a melon craving and it was sending mine scatty has your dietician given you any guildlines because although you need to avoid sugar its not always sugary foods that are the problem

Yes it was white bread. I cannot stomach brown bread thinking of switching to that 50/50 bread to see if that will help?? I just had two slices of toast and some peanut butter on top, will post the results in an hour :)

I would check peanut butter, I think there is a lot of sugar in that :(

I found it such a shock watching all my foods at first and felt like i was hungry all the time but it does get easier :)

its just about what you eat and you do have to take it seriously otherwise they might put you on insulin tablets or injections (they did me and i only had 2 readings over 7.8!) i was not a happy bunny :(

really makes you stop and think how many foods have sugar in them, it sucks

I have a real sweet tooth too and am allergic to several foods including most fruits so i dont have much choice when it comes to snacking, i am addicted to sugar free jelly at the mo :)
