Frustrated!

Hello all....! Havent posted for a while but have been keeping up x

Am very frustrated this weekend as we had our 20 week scan on Fri and although they did eventually say they thought everything was normal, I just felt they were very negative. LO was being v naughty and stubborn fixing into positions where they couldn't check things so the whole thing took almost an hour. At the end they just said to me - well we couldn't get everything we needed but you seem to be on track so there won't be any more scans - bye. No photo. They asked my OH if he wanted to take a photo with his phone but gave him about a second to do it so it was blurred and the flash was right on bub's face. Pointless! So that left me feeling a bit short changed. I just wanted to go and be reassured and I totally wasn't! I had also asked about the sex at the beginnnng. so you'd think they would have been looking out for it but they started clearing up at the end and I had to remind them at which point they said that its legs were together but they 'thought' they had seen the three lines earlier and there were no sticking out bits so it's probably a girl. Soooo...annoying. I can't afford to have another scan. But....and here's the naughty bit - I am changing my care provider as I have moved house and the new one doesnt know I've already had a scan. Do you think I should try and get one with the new care provider (they have a no-telling-sex policy, but I might get the reasurance and a photo), or is that a bit too naughty??!! Shall I assume I'm team pink or stay green (I've always had a strong girl feeling)??

Oh hun thats a bit crappy! I dont think some poeple realise how much it means to he mum and dad (suppose they do a lot each day but still) I think they will have details of your scan on the hospital database and also in your notes so doubt you will get away with it. Its worth asking if you can have another one though.

I'm staying team green as im loving the guessing but now you've said that about the lines im off to look at my scan pic again!

They will probably know you've had a scan as they will need your maternity notes and need to fill things in on it. And MW will have to refer you for the scan. Its often computer linked also to your NHS number and maternity number.

Also if it was your 20 week abnormality scan then chances are you'll be too late for another one as it takes a few weeks to process and get an appointment.

Hmmm.......I am booked in with them already though. I would feel a bit bad, like I was being greedy. I'm just so annoyed that they were so negative.

You know I would try and get another scan anyways hun purely for the fact that they didnt get all the measurments and I know its different in each area but to say things seem ok just isnt good enough!! MY LO was lay in a funny position and they said I had to go back after 2 weeks as they couldnt get measure her spine and althought it looked ok and they told me there was nothing to worry about, because they couldnt get the proper measurments etc they couldnt just say its all ok!
Whats the point of having an anomoly scan if they dont properly check for abnormalities?!

They spent an hour on your scan OK your baby was not playing ball but they spent an hour. Thats a hell of a lot longer than I got at my 20 week scan OK I got a couple of pics (cost me £6 though). They are now in a box with the other baby things. I've not looked at them since about 22 weeks, never felt the need. But thats just me.

If you are annoyed maybe phone up and complain? They may ask you to come back and be rescanned.

Everyone is different. Do what you feel is right and comfortable for you.
