Hi all,

Just looking for some friendly advice and hope!

Me and my partner have been trying for a baby now for 6 years. We have had tests done and been approved for IVF due to my partner having low sperm count.... however I need to loose a few stone to be able to do this - this was 2 years ago now.
I want a baby so much, but why is this not spurring me on to lose weight? I feel that I am kidding myself thinking it will happen naturally (my doctor always said it only takes one sperm! Which has always stuck in my head)

Anyone been in the same situation? And how have you motivated yourself?

I am a week late on my period now and took a test which came back negative. Is this the universe telling me to get on with it and get my act together? ‍♀️

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Hi, I haven’t had to lose weight but I have changed my diet hugely! I’ve now cut out sugar (expect from fruits) and processed food. And I drink tons of water. I’ve never been a big exerciser so I’ve started doing simple easy exercises from YouTube and going for walks when I can. Even if you start doing 10 minutes a day, it’ll help build up to getting in a routine with it.
I’d recommend the ivf diet book by zita west. It completely changed how I felt about how I treat my body and gave me massive amounts of motivation to eat healthily.
I know a personal trainer and she says the way to lose weight is simple...eat healthy, smaller portions and exercise. And in her opinion fad diets never work and if they do, the weight goes back on afterwards.
For me, my motivation now is thinking I’m making myself as healthy as I can before I have ivf treatment and then that way I’ll know I’ve done all I possibly can.

Best of luck xx
