How does this work? - Can i store it in the fridge for a few hours first so i can express in to the same bottle a few times, and then put it in the freezer tonight? - also, how long can i keep it in the freezer for? - And then how do i de frost it - in the fridge? - for how long?

Sorry so many questions. Planning my first outing without the lo on friday, and im worried and nervous! x

I think the general rule is to freeze ASAP, so I would say as long as its the same day that's fine. You can keep milk in the freezer for 6 months! When you want to use it make sure it defrosts gently - so either in fridge over night or at room temperature for a few hours. Once defrosted it just be used within 24 hours.

Fresh milk can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days, or at room temperature for up to 6 hours. Xxxx

That site has great info on storing breast milk!!

You can express at multiple time to get the amount together and then freeze, doesn't have to be ASAP!

Invest in some milk bags. I've always frozen in flat shingles and then just run under hot tap to defrost in minutes - so no waiting around and no wasted defrosted milk.

Thanks ladies!! After all that effort of expressing for 4 days and storing the milk for my 1st night out - lo wouldnt take the bottle at all!!!! Its not the 1st time iv expressed, and shes always taken it from a bottle before, but last night she blank out refused it! my poor mum!

My friend is a teacher she said that morning while going to school she will keep the milk in the freezer and before feeding the baby 1 hour before she keeps it out and it will be finished with in half a day only.
