anyone has one surplus to requirements i would be very grateful. Thanks

yeh right lol.

reckon this should be a stucky, as loads of posts about freecycle have been on

I'm not going to make a sticky out of something that ridicules freecycle......sorry

Freecycle isnt just about getting rid of crap...its about reducing consumerism, waste, and saving money.

What do you do with an electrical device you are no longer using? You dont put it in the rubbish bin do you...you would stash it away in a cupboard or loft, or chuck it in a rubbish tip.

Wouldnt you rather pass it on to someone who would make good use of it, instead of them going out and buying one? In one swoop you have reduced consumerism, saved a little space on a rubbish tip, and have done a good deed by saving someone money.

People ask for all kinds of things, not just old books and clothes but anything, and 9 times out of 10 there is someone who has just that and they are more than happy to pass it on....yes even TV's, consoles and digital cameras!

Thats what freecycle is for, and thats what it does!

Well thats your choice of course, but there are plenty of people out there who would rather pass it on to someone who perhaps couldnt afford to buy one. Just because you would sell it, thats no reason to ridicule people who ask for them....because people will happily respond and pass one on even if you wont!

Thats a bit snippy , I dont have the spare cash to just give a telly away if I can get something for it first. If people have enough money that they can give these things away then thats lovely for them and the people who get them. I didnt think I was ridiculing these people.

No I understand what your saying, but quoting peoples posts from freecycle and then laughing about it IS ridiculing.

At the end of the day people ask for things that you may not personally want to give away, and thats fine, but they ask for them because thats how freecycle works....not because they are being silly or greedy. And they dont deserve to have their requests pasted and laughed at do they?

It just demeans the whole concept as far as i'm concerned, which is why I said what I did.

This isnt the first thread laughing at the requests, but I hope it will be the last.

I didnt quote anyones freecycle post, I quoted from yours.

And Im sorry If I find someone asking for a nintendo ds, something you couldnt get for love nor money at christmas amusing, but I do. And i will laugh at it if I choose to. What I found amusing was that they already had 1. There are lots of people out there that couldnt even afford one and this greedy person was asking for another.

If its so offensive then remove the thread.

ffs.

You obviously dont understand the concept, so I wont bother trying to explain it again. And this wasnt directed at just you, im sick of seeing these posts ridiculing freecycle.

If you want to laugh at them go ahead, but not here ok?

I do understand the concept and I use freecycle, I have given stuff away and received stuff. Just not things that cost hundreds of pounds.

is this a battle for the last word? I could just post and lock you know

Only kidding.

But seriously, people DO give away things that cost hundreds of pounds, and people DO ask for them. Some people can afford that, even if you and I couldnt. I guess they would rather give them to someone who cant afford them which is commendable in my eyes. If I could afford it, I would rather give my plasma away when its replaced to someone who I know would appreciate it and get good use out of something they wouldnt normally be able to afford.

But besides all that, it is out of order to copy and paste other peoples messages...what ever they may be....for other people to ridicule. Thats the point.

ok im not taking the piss out of what people are offering, but i had a weird situation recently....

some one was offering a dinning table so i asked if it was still available as ours is just too big for our kitchen. and the lady replyied that it was and i could have it only if i come to her house and wait for her new table to be delivered and help off load it and set it up

i explained im 8 months pregnant etc, and so she wont let me have table :?

i do agree some times people do take the piss a little on there... the other day some lady said her car had failed mot and if some one has a car with mot and tax she could have????

I think this has all got a bit silly, I find it rather amusing that someone thinks that they are just going to be handed a satnav system for nothing, its just not going to happen and if you know someone that gives away things like that then you are lucky but the majority of people dont.

Its a bit of a laugh nothing harmful, it wont hurt anyone.
