Sarah, I would base your choice on when you are going to have time.
If I was cooking for my MIL and FIL they are very high maintenance when they are around I would go for the Steak Pie, as you can prepare / cook a lot of it in advance and it is finishing in the oven when they are around.
My parents aren't and don't mind me cooking in the kitchen when they are around and I would (and have) done them that dish several times.
I am sure both will be delicious. Enjoy!
