Hi,

I'm flying back to the Uk at the end of March for one of my best friend's Hen Do.......it's only a short 2 and a half hr flight.....but can't help feeling concerned at flying as i will be 27 and a half weeks pregnant.

Has anyone else flown at this stage in their pregnancy......and is there anything to be concerned about???

Thanks

Amy xx

Im sure its considered the best time to fly. Most airlines let you fly upto 32 weeks without any problems.
I would ring your travel agents or airline and make sure they are aware of how many weeks you are just to check their policy etc.

I only flew when i was 14 weeks pregnant, but I wouldnt have been worried if I had the chance to fly again when I was 27 weeks.

I flew from London to Toronto, 27 and a half weeks pregnant alone which was around 8 hours and had no problem. Just make sure with your airline that you don't need a doctors note but I don't think you will need one.

Hi Amy,

Don't worry its fine to fly when your pregnant, just wouldn't recommend it frequently because of the pressurization.
British airlines usually have the policy that its acceptable to allow folk to fly upto 28 weeks but between 28 and 34 weeks you will need a doctors note certifying you fit to fly, after 34 weeks the only time most airlines would consider you flying with them if it was under extreme circumstances i.e medical reasons and then you would have to be escorted by a fully qualified doctor/nurse or midwife.

(I'm an airline hostie and believe me you wouldn't want to go into labour on a plane and the crew wouldn't be too chuffed either, i've had a close call with a passenger before now and it fu**ing scary! that's why they have these rules!!)

I would advise you let the airline know prior to departure that you're preggers, wear flight socks (even though its only a short flight), keep yourself as mobile as possible during the flight (will probably annoy the crew but hey-ho! ) but make sure you drink plenty of water before the flight and during and you'll be fine.

Hope this helps

I'm going to Ibiza in May for 2 weeks. I'll be 24 weeks on the flight back. My travel agent called the airline, and even though I'm not 28 weeks yet, they still need a doctors note saying that I am okay to fly.

I would definitely check with the airline just to be on the safe side.

Hi Girls,

Thanks for the replies........nice to know a couple of you have flown at the same stage, going to make sure i get an aslie seat and will drink plenty of water.
