I just wondering what everyones thoughts are on the flu nazel spray for toddlers , my daughter is 2 and I have been offered the spray for her but very confused if I should take her . Who else has been offered this ? did anyone decline ?

Can't wait until Zac is old enough for this - he's picked up about 3 colds already through nursery and hanging out with other children/general germs! x

The flu shot won't stop your toddler getting colds and germs though :/

Even efficacy against flu is questionable at best.

I had my son booked for one today and scatterbrain here forgot all about it. I don't see the harm in it.

I took my 2 year old, no big deal in my opinion and if it stops him getting flu I'm all for it. He's been fine since and that was weeks ago.

My 2.5 year old had it last week and has been fine since, a slight sniffle started today but I suspect that's normal nursery germs!

My 3.5 year old daughter had the inactive vaccine (the spray is live). I got her vaccinated this year because she's around my dad a lot and he's immunosuppressed due to chemotherapy. No ill effects. We went for the inactive vaccine rather than the spray so that she didn't have to stay away from my dad for 3 weeks afterwards or that she'd cause problems for my son (who's too young to have either).

However, I did decline it last year as I couldn't see the benefit. She only had it this year because of dad and if he'd been fit enough to have the flu vaccine, I wouldn't have vaccinated my daughter.

Bee is too young so James won't be having it as it's a live virus and I'm not putting one child at risk to protect the other. James is pretty robust whereas Bee has had several colds, has a milk allergy, has had a course of antibiotics for a chest infection and has eczema... she'd be too much at risk for my liking and the spray itself doesn't have enough conclusive evidence to prove it works.... It also only protects against xyz strains as well.

X

We've gone for it, can't see the harm, if it doesn't work we've not lost anything! x
