First time using OPK

I have been trying to conceive for 10months now we are now undergoing fertility testing.
I have irregular cycles anything from 28 days to 34 and once I even had a 41 days cycle.
I’m gona give OPK a go and after working out what day to start on I did my first one this morning. I’m using the clear blue ones predicts both hormones and can identify up to 4 fertile days.
This morning my first one come back as negative. That’s what I was expecting to be honest but my question is can I test every other day until I get the flashing smiling face (high fertility) then from there test every day until I get static smily face (peak
Fertility)?
It seems pointless testing everyday until I get a flashy smily face especially with my cycles being irregular?
Any help advice I would really appreciate up untill now we have been doing it every 2-3 days but thought as nothing is working we would try this.

You need to test everyday hun with the Clear Blue from the Cycle day that the instructions tell you too up until you get your peak (static smiley)
I would also DTD every other day like you have been and then when you get your peak do it for a few days in a row.

Ok, I didn’t think it wouldn’t matter if it said negative today? And especially with my cycles being so long here and there. I don’t think il ovulate till next week...by which time my sticks will run out.
Thanks for the advice tho we can’t do it till Wednesday night anyway because he’s going for spermicide resting Wednesday morning.

The instructions in the box give you a day to start testing depending on the length of your cycle so your sticks wont run out. You don't just start on a random day.
The holder gives you a baseline on the frist day you start testing and then you test every day up until your peak. If you are going to do every other day then you wont get accurate results

I no I worked out what day to start on because of the instructions.
The only reason I was asking was because my cycles are irregular. I started the test on day 9 based on my shortest cycle but hat was 5 months ago. Since then my cycles have been 32-34 and one at 41 days.

This sounds a lot like me. I gave up on the ClearBlue after three cycles I think as I never got a solid smiley just loads of days of flashing ones :/

Nope Just been referred for fertility tests. We started trying after our wedding last November.

I have very irregular cycles, I would test every day and could sometimes have weeks of negatives or flashing before I got my solid smiley.

The first one will always be negative, even if you are about to ovulate because it needs the baseline, I once went from blank on first day straight to peak the next day.

Ok so I do need to do it every day then no problem thanks for you help.
If I use all the sticks in my kit I can buy another kit and use the sticks from that with the same holder that’s write isn’t it?

I always got a twenty box to make sure I wouldn’t run out. I used to have cycles up to 67 days long sometimes. I think with your length cycles you’ll be ok though x

Ok maybe il get some more in the cupboard just incase.

It feels like it’ll never happen at the moment. I’m glad we’ve got the ball rolling with the tests now though. It’s good to feel like I have some sort of control.
