sorry, i keep posting loadsa stuff on here, but im not sure what toexpect and figure asking people who are going through it/have been through it makes sense!!

Anway, im really frustrated atm, as i have to wait till im 16.5 weeks to get my twelve week scan. I there not anythiong i can say t o get it moved further forward (ie i thought it had to be by a certain point....) I'm really frustrated cos i just wanna know everythings ok and moving along nicely and instead of getting to the 12 weeks point and feeling like we can breathe a sigh of relief we have to keep going and waiting.....grrrrr.....

Hey hun, congratulations on your pregnancy

I think waiting untill your 16.5 weeks pregnant for a 12 week scan is completly unacceptable to be honest, id understand if it was 13 weeks but 16.5?
I have just had my 12 week scan and during that scan they offererd me the combined test which is to test for Down's Syndrome andIm just looking at the leaflet now which is the official NHS leaflet they give out with information about the combined test and it says the test should be done at 11 weeks but anytime between 10 and 13 weeks is acceptable. So if your first scan is at 16.5 weeks and you want the combined test then according to their leaflet it is NOT acceptable.

I would call the hospital and try your hardest for them to bring it forward or speak to you GP.

Waiting for your 12 week scan is hard enough but to have to wait an extra month is unfair in my opinion, maybe there is some confussuon about how far gone you are? You should call your antenatal department.

Sory hun, I just wanted to add that I have just read another leaflet which is called 'The Quadruple Test' which tests for Down's Syndrome and open Tube Defects which can be done between weeks 14 and 22, so the testing is not a problem.

But still I know I could not have waited that long, a 12 week scan puts mums to be minds at rest and should be a joyful time as you start to tell everyone your pregnant!

I would still request an earlier scan, theres no harm in trying

Im sorry that they cant bring it forward hun, all I can say is that I know its frustrating to have to wait and I worried...too much but it is normal to be slightly worried but I truly believe that everything will be okay and just to say dont worry as its not good for you or the baby! Enjoy it as much as possible as no matter how long you have to wait when you see your baby on the screan for the first time you will forget about the waiting as you will be so happy! And that time WILL come!

I think waiting that long is absolutely disgusting. We wait a long time for 12 weeks to come to see if baby is ok and for some of us to then tell the world but to add another month?? What the hell are they playing at?! I would not be happy at all! Have they said why you have to wait so long? I thought if you opted for the nuchal fold then it had to be done between week 12 and 13? Hope you get it resolved Hun xx

I cant believe you have to wait that long - why are they doing one at 16 weeks when you have your anomaly scan between 18 and 20 weeks? It doesnt make any sense to me - perhaps one of the mods could offer some answers.

Oh you really need to push for that to be moved, just on the small chance , there was something wrong, you really would want to know sooner than later , yes tell them your opting for the Nuchal fold scan as mine said that has to be done between 12 weeks and 13 plus 6 days only to be able to put your results with the rest of the results for UK taken at the same stage to give you a risk.

If you can't get one then I must admit I would go and get a private scan just for peace of mind and so you can see / hear the heartbeat. XX

i everyone thanks for the advice....apparently they just ave no room for me at all...and even the appt tey ave me is in te next city... its really worried about it andi know it sounds really pessimistic but if is a problem i we want to know now. Apparently we can see if tere are cancellations eac day but its inappropriate due to work....

Hi everyone,
Tried for leeds etc adn they wouldn't let me.....unfortunately/fortunately, iv had someroblems and had a bit of blood loss so went to a and e and they said although its probably fine, i had something funny with my urine and so they have given me a scan for thursday morning. its 3 hours long, i have to take an overnight bag just in case, and im really worried as to why its so long now...........

However im very disappointed in the fact that they can organise a 3hr appt at a day and half's notice but cant organise me a scan for max max max max of an hour with 2/3 weeks notice....
