Hello...

So i have just booked in my first ante natal class - pretty surprised as i was told i would be waiting a while and managed to get one for next Saturday...

Im just a bit worried ive left it a bit late... ill be 31 weeks by then, but ive only just been told by my midwife to book anything... id have thought i would be told earlier than this, its my first pregnancy so i havent got a clue what im doing...

Also, can anyone tell me what to expect when we go?? Im not very good with speaking infront of people i dont know and dont want to look stupid with all the questions i have... or look like im not interested if i dont ask anything...

Any advice would be great :)

I wouldn't worry about having left the classes too late. I only went to my first class on Monday just gone when I was 36 weeks! Most of the other women there were due just after me.
At my first class, we just had to introduce ourselves and say when the baby was due and whether this was our first baby or not.
The midwifes just said we could ask questions as we went along, or wait until the end and ask them questions in private afterwards.

Ah ok... sounds like i can manage that haha... i thought it might be like a proper workshop thing where you had to interact all the way through.. Thanks :)

I was worried that we'd all be sat on the floor practising breathing techniques but I asked my friend who had a baby last year and she said that you all just sit on chairs listening to the midwife talk which is pretty much what happened.

They didn't really tell me anything I didn't know apart from when we should go to the hospital, but I think the next class will be more interesting as I think it'll be more about the labour etc.

Thats sounds like a better session than what i was thinking... i think i just worry about everything... my friends think im going to like Rachel from friends ringing her health visitor at 3am because the little lady has the hiccups!!!
