first antenatal class tomorrow!

Pointless thread I know..... Just excited Im having my first antenatal class tomorrow 12.30 till 2pm. Hope I meet some new friends!!!

How was it?

It was really good. Run by our local midwives on NHS. I was the only one there on my own though....everyone had their OH with them apart from one girl who had her mate with her. The couples were ALL on their first babies, the girl with her friend on her 3rd and me with my 2nd. When my hubby got home from shift this morning he asked me how it went and he looked gutted when I said I was the only one on my own - It really did not bother me at all though! I'm quite a confident person and happy to chat to anyone and voiced my opinion on most things lol - I should say this was encouraged my midwife as she wanted the newbie mums to hear what us experienced (ahem) mums had to say. Cant wait till next Friday when they discuss various problem births - I get to tell my horror story of my back to back 36 hour labour and put them all off ha ha. The only thing thats worrying me now is that at the class the midwife said the birthing pool is out of order at the hospital and wont be in action for my birth - I was really really wanting that cos they dont do epidural at my hospital. They did say they would run me a very deep bath.... On a bonus note, our midwives encourage partners to be very hands on at the birth - even offering them to deliver the baby themselves!! If I was a man, I'd be terrified I would go and drop it on its head!! rofl....

Wow that sounds like it went really well! I'm definitely going to the NHS ones as well as the NCT ones. Need all the info I can get!!
Aww no about the birthing pool, though Make sure they run you that deep bath (that reminds me of Alan Partridge haha! Alan's deep bath!).
