Fertility Friend is wrong? Positive OPK, 1+2 DPO

Hi, sorry i cant seem to upload a pic (make it so much easier!)

Basically starting cycle day 15 thru to day 19 i have had all positive opk tests.

day 15 - creamy cm + a same colour + opk temps raise to 97.9 but this is typical of me before ovulation (just this month been a bit colder temp wise prior ..)
day 16 - watery cm + strong positive opk) temp goes down to 97.6 region
day 17 - a negative opk here, temps go to 97.7 region cm is creamy
day 18 - weird here... i get a very strong positive opk again???!!? cm is creamy temps are back up to 97.90
day 19 - temps level at 97.90, creamy cm, strong! positive opk.
day 20 - wake up this morning and my temps spikes to 98.40 (typical of after ovulation)

So this is where i am confused... FF has me as ovulated day 17.. this conflicts strongly with the 2 very positive opks day 18 + 19. And like i said it is TYPICAL of before O temps to 97.90 region to spike to 98.40 after O. Accord to FF now i am 3 dpo and on 1 + 2 dpo have strong positive opks?

*please note i take all my opks same time and with same drinking rules so they are as accurate as they can be

Any input be great thanks

*PS: I am getting cramps, this would make me believe O has only happened yesterday, i have cramps like i would prior to ovulation.. makes no sense for me to have 3dpo cramps if Ovulated 3 days ago.. confused!

Hi Kristenann,

You say you had all positive opk tests? are you saying the test line were exactly the same colour as the control line every time you tested?

I am definitely no expert of these things, as i am learning myself, but if i am correct, actual physical ovulation happens within 24 hours. I knew exactly the day i was ovulating as i could tell by the feelings i was getting.

Can you tell when you are ovulating?

I know what you mean..i do get ovulation pains prior to ovulation but its been proved time and time again from fertilty friend and by temps.. i seem to get these prior to ovulating rather then on the day. I got ovulation pains on day 16 i think..? would have been confirmed with day 17 with the negative, however i got a very strong postivie day 18 (probably strongest of all) and a stong but not as strong day 19.
Fertility friend has me as ovulating day 17. But my temps have spiked up to what they do normally today, day 20. (from a normal 97.90 prior to O to 98.40 after O this morning)..
But tbh this cycle been a touch wack.. it has me as having higher then normal temperature fluctuations but i have been the most accurate ever in doing these this month so i know all my temps so far are very accurate

Maybe you ovulated twice? As your temp does go up after day 17 and day 19?!? What I would say is better when taking temp is to have a 2 digit thermometer so it will show 97.93 etc, that way you can see more clear rise and falls between temps.

In my experience, FF is rubbish - it was ALWAYS wrong for me. Trust your opks and cramps. I would dtd again today just to be sure. Best indication of ovulation is when your discharge changes to thick and white stuff in my experience. Some women ovulate more than once too.

Sometimes your body tries to ovulate but doesn't and then you have a second surge where you hopefully do ovulate. Think of it as a false start.

You can release more than one egg but that would be within a 24hr period and isn't because you ovulated twice, you ovulate once per cycle.

I'd recommend learning a lot about coverlines, slow and rapid temp rises to spot ovulation and using a print out chart.

Your mucus doesn't have to be like egg white maybe for you creamy was still fertile. Did it reduce or stop on cd20?

I personally think you ovulated on cd19 but it's very difficult to tell for sure until you see your temps over the next few days.

I agree .. temp today was same as yesterday so 98.40 region. Basically day 17/18 97.90 (normal for me pre O) and day 20/21 98.40 region..

When you say your cm is creamy do you mean thick or the colour is white? If it's too thick it might interfere with sperm motility and maybe a lubricant like conceive plus could help. I sometimes use it, it's really light, clear and slippery good luck and fingers crossed for you. xx

Thanks. I used preseed thru all my tries this month because cm was rubbish
