Femfresh, yay or nay?

Good technique when u need a wee and had stitches or no stitches (either way it friking kills lol) Jug of cold water at the same time as weeing. pour it down there at the same time and it stop the burning. x

I wouldn't put anything down there tbh. Maybe some tea tree or salt in a bath though. X

Yep that's a brill tip and also if you struggle going for a wee afterwards through fear of pain etc, turn the tap on and watch the water. Really helped me after my section! X

witch hazel is great and soothing afterwards if you have had stitches, just whack some on your pad and ahhhhhhh lol. a mw got me some when i was in hosp after having baby and id highly recommend it for the first few days after birth

I used only water with a drop of tea tree oil to help healing, I really wouldnt put any chemicals down there after birth

I've been using tea tree oil, I had an episiotomy along with a small unstitched tear. I thought going to the toilet would hurt, and as a result I couldn't relax to go first of all but when I went I was so surprised it didn't. I have an infection now being treated by antibiotics and still don't hurt!

Lol you're insides won't fall out 1st labour i had to be cut and stitched it didn't really bother me apart from when i was asleep my mum said i kept scratching down there saying itchy itchy itchy ( embaressing much) 2nd labour i tore my old scar lol and had to be stitched if you do tear or have to have stitches make sure you drink tonnes of water so you're pee is less acidic and get a cup of warm water to pour over your stitches while you pee it helps alot i found it hard to go for a poo to start with was bruised down there but didn't need to go for one for days seems i'd allready emptied mine while in pushing ( lovely i know lol ) i wouldn't personally use anything on your lady bits for a while just clean fresh water and if you do end up tearing or have stitches ask your midwife for some witch hazel and some gauze it does wonders on them really soothing my mum would wash out the tub with bleach and disenfectant before i had a bath to make sure it was spotless

Cosmic recommended to bend forward and put your hands on the floor when weeing. I did this and my wee didnt go anywhere near my foof.

As far as pooing is concerned, I just waited until I absolutely had to go and I made sure that I ate loads of fibre and drank lots of water so it was as soft as possible....... my word, it was proper nerve racking...
x

I will be packing arnica tabs too :)

You'll be fine, it can sting, and the pouring water idea is great. Plant of water so your pee is nice and dilute helps too.
Good luck :)

i poured warm water on to pee and tea tree oil in the bath to help keep infection away and keep it fresh. after a few days it stunk after an hour if i didn't use tea tree oil in the bath. sorry for the.tmi. x

I was picking up wee bits for my hospital bag yesterday. I threw a bottle of CK shower gel in without even thinking! Sounds like that's out now! :)

yes the idea of pouring warm water down when you pee really works. i had forgotten about all that lol!

I've packed salt, tea tree oil and my own shower gel but that's not for my lady bits. I just don't want to bath without some sort of gel/soap, I imagine I'll be really sweaty.

xxxxxx

Can you ask to run your own bath btw, because at home i have it quite hot and they ran it lukewarm at the hospital and made me feel worse than if i hadn't bothered i cant stand a bath thats not hot! x

I hope so, I like my skin red in a bath, my cousin ran her own one but I don't know if you are allowed in others.

xxxxxxx

Yeh i like to be a lobster, it was seriously too cold last time but i thought maybe its a health and safety thing? Maybe someone can tell me lol x

Just a little tip, if you are sore after (I had an episiotomy which took forever to heal) use lavender oil drops in the bath. This really helps.

And oh if weeing is painful then do it in the shower, sounds groce but if you've got running water on you, you won't feel the sting of the wee! Xxxx I used to just take my pants and trousers off and stand in the shower and do it, and then wash and dry and get dressed again! Really doesn't take long and it's only the first few days the wee stings.
