Feeling stupid for feeling nervous

Ive never had a smear test before and I have one next Wednesday. Was due to have one last year but found out I was pregnant. So had to wait 3 months after giving birth before I could have one. Thanks to lilelephant cos her fb status reminded me to book it. I've had swabs done down below. I take it it's just the same as that? Thanks in advance.xx

I've never had a swab done before so can't compare there but I can reassure you that a smear is quick and painless.
My nurse was really good and spent time explaining the procedure before hand so I felt more relaxed. But it's over and done with in about 2 minutes and although feels strange isn't painful and I have a low pain threshold!
You will be fine and it's so important to have done.

I've had both swabs and smears and I found them both to be the same. I was expecting the smear to be awful but it was over in seconds in fact I was shocked when the nurse said 'all done'.
