Awwww Laura I'm sure if A&E said he was fine, then he will be okay honey. Accidents happen, don't blame yourself. I'm sure it's just the shock coming out of your system now.
Hi, i dont come on much these days so you wont know me but i couldnt read your post and not respond.
ask almost any mother and they will tell you their baby has fallen off the bed/sofa/lap or something at some point. my sister dosed off after feeding her youngest (was prob within the first two weeks so younger than your lo) and awoke to her crying and realised she was on the floor and believe me you've never seen a healthier or brighter 3 year old than she is now.
my lo fell off the bed ( a little older than your lo, when he was wiggly!) when dh was supposed to be watching him and dosed off - again nothing wrong other than some very guilty feeling parents!
its almost a right of passage for most babies - lost count of how many similar posts i have seen on here over the last couple of years.
So please please please dont beat yourself up - you did all the right things in getting him checked out - they are a lot tougher than we give them credit for and he will not hate you for it (wait till he's 2½ and he'll hate you for taking his buttons away )
hope this reassures you a bit hun, i know how anxious these early weeks can be and it can drive you crazy but you'll look back one day and joke about it i promise.
We can try to be perfect mums, but we never can! I know it is not exactly the same, but when I first cut LO's nails I cut her finger instead and it bled . I felt awful, but she was fine after initial cry.
When LO was smaller we were transferring her from my lap to OH's and didn't quite manage to hold her neck properly and it lolled quite badly. I burst into tears - needless to say she was fine, didn't even cry, I just got a big fright.
I believe that it is this instict of wanting to protect our child which makes as good parents - not perfect, but as perfect as we can be. Keep up the good work - our babies are much stronger than they look!
Im not a Mummy yet but when i slipped on the stairs i felt like absolute shite!
Its plainly obvious it wasn't purpose please give yourself a huge hug and stop beating yourself down!
I can't tell you not to worry because as a parent you are going to and you will be watching him closely but your little boy will be fine, I think every Mummy and daddy must go through something similar where their child gets hurt and they feel bad but you must'nt babys get dropped all the time, we're not perfect and whether or not theres a next time it doesnt make you a bad Mummy...
It was an accident. As simple as that. You did not do it on purpose and you never would. I understand that you feel bad and I hope that someone is giving you big hugs and telling you everything is OK. Accidents happen and it sounds like your baby is fine now so try to let the feelings about it fade. Easier said than done, I know.
i couldn't read and run..
As i was thinking to post a similar topic but was afraid everyone will blame me as being a bad mother
what happens to me most of the time is when i am carrying my LO on my shoulder trying to calm him down his always bangs his head badly on my shoulder .... and i am sure it does hurt and i do blame my self alot for doing that...and when he was younger me and his dad fail sometime to support his neck...i guess most first timers will face similar situations...
Oh hun, I managed to let a massive heavy scrap book fall forward onto Luke's head in his pushchair when he was only a few weeks old and I was so upset and scared that I couldn't even tell Matt. That night, Luke screamed loads (as he always did anyway) but I was convinced that he was worse than ever and that I had brain damaged him or something. I eventually told Matt and he put my mind at rest.
He was absolutely fine as will our LO be. Dont beat yourself up about it. It was an accident and we all learn from these mistakes me make.
Oh gosh I know how you feel - when Lucy was little I did something very similar and while she recovered really quick from it, I couldn't stop feeling guilty for so long! The thing is we're not perfect and there are going to be times like these where we make mistakes but try not to beat yourself up about it - babies are so robust you wouldn't believe it!
Hope you feel better soon - this doesn't for a second make you a bad mummy.
Oh god I've bumped Austin more times than I care to remember. Once when he was tiny I bashed it on a door frame as I was walking through and he screamed for ages. Even now when he throws himself around I feel awful if he actually hurts himself, but it's completely normal and accidents do happen.
Remember, even tiny babies are a lot tougher than they look & seem. He'll be fine & you're a fab mummy
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled and bashed Emms' head against a wall and she screamed - I was so upset. It was infront of my family as well. But she has been fine, no apparent harm done! You did the right things by getting him checked out and it happens to everyone I think! One of my friends fell down the stairs with her baby and he was fine! Not nice when it happens though.
awww hun it was an accident i'm sure we've all got stories to tell. luke slipped over on our concrete patio a week before our wedding after tripping over my feet, he had a huge egg sized lump appear in front of my eyes and he bit his tongue i felt terrible!
you didn't do it on purpose it was an accident don't beat your self about it, no way would you put him in any danger he is lucky to have you as his mummy xx
connor fell off the sofa at 1 month old... and he rolled off our bed last week. we've all done it hon. it doesn't stop you feeling dreadful at the time, but i'm sure your baby will be absolutely fine
