Went to have Hannah weighed today and she's not put on any weight :-( I feel awful coz it's something to do with me feeding her. The HV asked what I'd been eating and she thinks I'm not eating enough. And need High calorie and fat in my food. I feel horrible that I've not been giving my baby the best. Do any of you have suggestions or advice for eating while breastfeeding? Xx
Sorry and also if I start eating more food with fat etc does it take affect immediately on the milk? Xx

I found flapjacks helped and were easy to gra they say oats in general..
How old is your lo and how was she gaining before?
Tapatalking so cant see signatures

I tend to eat to satisfy my hunger which is regularly! Oaty foods are good for supply as are oily fish. If you eat a normal balanced diet you should be fine hun. How old is LO? xx

She is 10 weeks today. She was gaining like 6oz every week when I was eating less and today (I think I've been eating more this week) she had only gained an oz. She has been quite sleepy today too and fussy at the boob for a While..It's really worrying me and making me feellike a failure- I just want the best for her. Thank uou for your replies Xx

It might not be your milk, my friends lo started teething early and slid down the centile chart. Maybe if she has been unwell she is feeding less? Dont give up hun, look.at the baby rather than numbers. Do you feel she is hungry? Or maybe has a cold? How often do you weight her?

I wouldn't worry too much hun as long as she does not drop weight. How often do you weigh her? If you look in the red book the advice is to weigh once a month then you will get a true indication. xx

How is she in her self hun? Does she have a cold or is she teething at all? Xx

We weigh her ever week. I just like to check she is putting on weight as you can never tell what they are taking when bf. She is more sleepy the last few days and more fussy when feeding. She doesn't seem as interested. Don't think she's got a cold. We have wondered if she's teething. Well oh has and a few other people have but I personally don't think she is?! Though when she is awake she still seems happy and smiling and 'talking' .. Xx

I wouldnt base your assumption on decreased supply just by one week. As ladies said, monthly weigh ins are recommended. Keep an eye on.her, you can always try teetha powder and see if it helps.
My friend had very similar situation and HV told her to top up and that it wasnt teething. 3 days later a tooth popped up.
Is she having enough wet/dirty nappies? Does she seem generally happy? I would panic just yet

I eat boiled eggs, cheese on toast, cornflakes and oats so simple for snacks between meals. I'm constantly starving while bf and sooo thirsty it's untrue?! Find some simple yummy things that you like and are quick to make and snack on x

Once a week is too much IMO.... wet and dirty nappies are a good indication if LO is getting enough. As long as LO is drastically dropping centiles I really wouldn't panic. X

Try and eat lots of good fats, like in nuts, fish and maybe try some seed oils that you can get in most supermarkets I believe.... It's hard when you're bf-ing as it feels like it's all down to you, but they do say their weight can fluctuate so hopefully it's just that... xxx

I think it also depends on how you BF, try to stick to one side longer so your baby gets the hind milk instead of the foremilk

Oh poor you, hugs. Please try not to worry. BF babies tend to gain weight quickly in first few months ,mthen it tails off.

If she was healthy, born at term, 37-42 weeks, then weighing once a month is what the department of health recommend now. It shows better weight gain and also avoids un-necessary worrying in mums too.
Try and eat more but as long as she gains at each weigh in, don't worry.
