Hello!

My friend is 39 weeks and had quite bad pains, regularly, for most of yesterday.
We all got really excited, then she got in the bath and they stopped.

She's had bloody show today, and slimy show yesterday :puke:

She had nothing overnight, and just one pain when I spoke to her earlier. The pains are just in the front, but she has backache which is constant.
Did anyone else have false labour, an if so, did you go into normal labour soon afterwards?
Did you do anything to help you along? Did it work?

I'm taking her for a long walk after lunch :D

I didnt have one but wanted to wish her good luck and hope baby does come soon!! :cheer:

i had false labour at 39w5d, and gave birth 2 days later! i was told the pains were effacing pains, but i had no backache

does sound promising, good luck to ur friend!

oh yeah, mine stopped on 39+6, the day before i gave birth. my boyf wouldnt have sex with me so i tried a bit of DIY to hurry things along  worked though!

I was in latent labour for 2 days. Stopped and started. Lots. I went for a hike up the hill then later when this didn't work got in the pool hoping it would stop things for a while so I could get some sleep. The pool has the opposite effect and kicked things off.

Usually as I understand it if getting in water stops things then its not quite time, if things carry on then usually labour will follow.

I have been round, entertained her little boy and marched her round the shops.

she getting regular pains, strong enough so she stops what shes doing and has to hold onto something.

shes losing more plug and has gone home to have a bath. fingers crossed....

My labour stopped and started for a week, but developed from when i started losing my plug friday i continued losing it and having irregular contractions until sunday night...he was born monday morning :-) so keep up with the walks and if she has a birthing ball get her to bounce loads, sounds like the contractions should become more regular ands strengthen before too long!! Good luck to her

Sounds promising! If she's at the stopping to hold onto something stage, I'm not convinced it's false labour anymore?! Or am I sadly deluded in the mean tricks our bodies can actually play on us?

Sounds like it could be real labour! Oooh Urchin, are you her birthing partner?!

Good luck to your friend - Hope something happens very soon!! :cheer: xx

Yes I am her birthing partner.

Last night I got the call that it was all happening and rushed over to their house at 7pm. When I got there she was in a lot of pain but then slowly everything calmed down again and she was getting little twinges about every 10 mins, so at 10pm I came home.

She phoned me this morning and said she's been up most of the night with pains again but it's not getting any worse. She's going to talk to her MW but I doubt they'll tell her anything interesting.

She's getting really fed up now :?

Awwwww big hugs to your friend    hope it all starts happening soon and that you have a wonderful experience x x x x

Bless her, she's having a hard time. But keep reminding her that even though real labour seems to be eluding her, all the contractions she's already having are loosening things up so when things actually get going then she'll probably be well on her way already. Wouldn't surprise me if she's already dilating. It won't be long now, good luck to you and your friend
