my fella keeps goin on how its a jinx to buy anything for the baby and its doin my head in now cos im 25 weeks im out of the main danger zone he has kids so hes been through this before why cant he just be normal for a change ugh....I bought two dummys the other day and they are with the baby stuff i have been given ie clothes etc thats it my mum is buyin me a pram for christmas and he again says its a jinx even gettin a cot is a jinx to be honest i can see myself snappin soon.....anyone eles been through this or is my fella just weird?

:shock::shock::shock:

If somethings gonna happen it will happen hun! My mum wouldn't buy anything until I was 7 months with Lacey then wouldn't let me bring the pushchair into the house!! It's silly!! Go buy whatever you want, nothing bad will happen because of it!! x x

Thanks hun its just that i would love for him to come with me and buy things for the baby okay not the colour for the baby because he dosent wanna know the sex fair enough i can understand that but ppl have said to me i have a moses basket for you or clothes or baby montiors do you want them and i will say yeah and he goes not untill the baby is born.I pulled him on this one and said so what when the baby is born and i have no clothes etc what iam suppose to do he said no we will have clothes and then says its all a jinx and yeah hes got kids from other woman who hes been with they have done the dirty on him..hense why no longer together but this is my first and perhaps my last with me having this blood disorder.I feel like im talking to a brick wall sometimes.

How can i sorta change his mind or should i not even attempt if i do buy some clothes he will go on and on and on.....

You need stuff before the babies born! Say to him where is the baby gonna sleep when she's born? Even if his ex's have done the dirty on him, doesn't mean you will! You both should be enjoying this pregnancy together!! Can you buy clothes without him knowing?

I heard that it is unlucky to buy anything before the first 3 months is up, is that true?!
But like Lacey's Mummy has said, if something is going to happen it will do no matter if you buy something. So please dont let a old wives tale stop you enjoying buying little bits for your baby!!

thats nuts you are going to have to have all the stuff you need before hand and get everything washed and ready!! only thing i dont do is dont have the pram in the house before hand but if something is going to happen it will happen and just because you bought some things doesnt mean something bad will happen, i dont see what his ex'x doing the dirty on him has got to do with you enjoying buying things for your baby that you need hope you get it sorted soon

I waited until 20 weeks and then we started shopping. I am having the pram delivered to my mums though.

now you are past half was it would be nice to buy a few wee things for bubs.

plus you dont want to be rushing at last minutes and panicking you've forgotten something.

Thanks for all your feedback yeah i can buy things and hide them from him just pass them onto my mum im sure she will keep hold of them but i just wish he would come shoppin etc with me but i dont think he will..Its hard to keep this all in esp when he starts goin on one x

The only superstition I've heard of is not to have the pram in the house til baby's born but I still did lol xx

ive never heard of a man being like this before to be honest id buy stuff clothes ect and put it in a draw at home and tell him if he doesnt want to know the sex of his child dont go in the draw you should have to hide them out at your mums i think the shopping is the bit that gets you through the tough times in pregnancy

Plus, who's to say buns doesn't come early. My cousins little girl was 5 weeks early, if she had waited till nearer the end or the birth to buy stuff then they would have had nothing. Especially with nuns being in icu for a bit, u don't have time to run about buying stuff!

To add, when something happens people always look for a reason as to why. So the logical thing at the time us to say..." it's because I bought a dummy". That's just not it, it's science and life that dictates what happens... Not what you buy!

It's all down to looking for an answer when you don't have one.

I would start buying now, my hubby opposite to yours and tries to buy everything straight away, only this one he hasn't bought anything yet and thats only because we have a 9 month old so have most things already. I must admit though i try not to let him till 12 weeks, i have not kept the pram in the house though like others just an old wives tale but its the only one I do, but mainly because my mum always buys the pram and keeps it in hers and doesn't let me have it lol.

least ur other half is intrested just asked my fella what he thought and he turned round and said he didnt care :( but personaly to me at your stage i would be buying the big stuff like pram and cot, even if its keeping it somewhere else for the time being, as when u get bigger u ant guna wanna go shoping and when babys born u need it there :)

When i see baby clothes, cots etc i get all broody i told him once we get a house sorted iam doing the nursery if he likes it or not...But again he said dont get a cot its a jinx he furstrates me he relle does i can understand about the pram in your house etc but the other things no....i feel as sometimes im gonna loose my rag and snap i think that would surprise him its like people keep saying i have some clothes i got for the little one i have to tell them to hold onto it when relle i want them and i wanna see what they got the baby.....So annoyin this relle is

I think as others have said it is human nature to want to attach a reason to something awful like losing a baby and it is so easy to say 'it must be because I brought the clothes etc' but if something is going to happen it is going to happen, whether you buy the bits or not, that is life as sad as it is.
You are hopefully out of the danger zone, I really think your partner is just being a bit too over cautious and needs to loosen up and enjoy the amazing journey you are both going on.

take anything your offered hun, yoiu can't wait till after, is he going to take you out spending and treat you to a fortunes worth of goodies, because he made your turn all the free stuff down, put y9ur foot down hun x

I think he's being quite silly really! The last thing u wanna do is go shopping with a naked, cotless and, pramless newborn! And not to mention that you will probably be shattered and sore from the birth too!

Just give it to him straight and tell him that he's completely daft and has no right to make things so much more difficult for you just because of his past (and irrelevant) experiences with his ex!
