Sorry ladies, me again.

Malachy is really struggling in the evenings with his tummy. He is full of gas and he's finding it really hard to get it out. I've tried boobing him to stimulate his gut when he roots, bicycle legs and general comforting. I need to get gripe water in, forgot it at the shop today and absolutely kicking myself.

Is there anything else I can do to help him? I'm expressing before each feed so he doesn't end up gulping with my let-down but he is clusterfeeding and I'm wondering could it be related to that?

It's becoming frustrating as he won't settle all evening so we are getting nothing done. I know it's just a phase he will grow out of but I'd like to make it easier on him, it's horrid seeing him in pain.

Are u also formula feeding? I was suggested tummy massage, hot bath, hot clothe on his tummy and moving his legs. If it persists maybe get him some lactulose from your GP ot ask your HV about a change of milk xx

He's ebf :) it must be booby related cus his brother had exactly the same problem when ebf but the only way I was able to stop it with him was to switch to formula. I really don't want to switch Malachy as other than this, he is doing really well on boob juice. He's pooing fine, it's his farts that are causing the problem - he keeps swallowing air :(

I would try a warm bath. Also if you google colic baby massage there are some tutorials on YouTube and this might help get his wind out. It is awful seeing them in pain xx

Have you tried Infacol or the more expensive coilef? Gripe water is from 1 month on - they don't reccommend in newborns

Extra burping during the day, warm baths - all the usual stuff your doing

Have you had your latch checked ?

Yup, latch has been checked by mw and hv, both said it was fine.

We are going through this too, he will writhe about after feeding despite being given infacol and being burped throughout the feeds. Sometimes he simply wants to be held and the second we put him down he cries. It's very tough but I've basically been told to just ride it out if already tried the bath, gentle massage, bicycle legs etc. Very frustrating, you have my sympathy! Xx

It's so frustrating isn't it SP! I'm struggling cus I'm trying not to sleep during the day so I can give Riley my attention but Malachy starts off at around 4ish and it's between 4 and 6 that I give Riley his dinner so it's been both boys have been testing their lungs and who is louder the last couple of evenings. Poor Malachy can't even settle on me cus he smells my milk and goes mental, tries to latch even though he's not hungry. This phase is the hardest, I think.
