Hello,

I had a HyCoSy (tube check but done under ultrasound, not xray like the HSG). It was cycle day 16 and my lining was 6.5mm. I have a 26-27 day cycle. I'm concerned this is a bit low. I had a collapsed follicle in left ovary and a dominant one in right ovary so I believe I had ovulated by the time I had this procedure and also had all the signs of fertility because I had abstained so was able to actually observe my natural CM this month without any interference from semen etc

Just wondering if anyone has anything similar or those going through IVF know? I am currently considering IVF at the moment and so just doing a lot of reading.

Re IVF when you have egg collection - I know it's a controlled process but timing wise, will collection be around cd 13/14 of the process like when you'd ovulate and therefore your day 3/day5 blasto would be like day 16/18? This is my concern - about whether my lining has enough time to continue to thicken before a transfer would take place. I hope that makes sense!

Hi Sydney,
I don’t know much about lining but I’ve just started ivf. So there are different protocols but for me Day 21 of cycle I got a jag (Prostrap) to take over my system (this is called down regulation) and I’m waiting for a period. Day 1 of period I start the next lot of jags for roughly 10 days. They scan you and make a decision on when to do egg collection. So really I think your usual cycle is out the window in terms of timing as you could be 10 days of jags, 5 days to blastocyst which would be day 15. And from egg collection you get pregesterone pessaries (the joy) to support your lining.
Does that make sense? The Prostrap has made my brain a bit foggy xx

Hi Sydney,

welcome to the gang! there are two types of IVF, long course and short course. Bambi above has talked about the long course (where you have a down regulation) I did the short course. because I have quite bad polycystic ovaries my consultant thought it was less risky for me to the short compared to long.

so on a short course you call up on the first day of your period and they get you in for your first scan by max day four of your period. I was scanned on day 3 and started my injections on the same day. I started my drugs on the 08/02 and had my trigger shot on the 19/02 with collection on the 21/02 with my day 5 embryo going back in on the 26/02. so it is a very quick process. my lining just before my transfer was 11.9 but I was never told what the exact number were that they were looking for. I only ever head that they hope for anything over 7mm. I took co Q10 in the run up to mine which us supposed to help the lining and keep it healthy.

sorry I cant be more help than that but feel free to message me with any questions :)

Thanks very much for both of your replies :)

I think I would probably go on the short protocol as well from what I understand about the reasons for both protocols. I feel reassured that they'll probably have meds to help thicken the lining but I'm wondering if perhaps this is why I'm not getting pregnant in the first place. I guess that may become clearer once I have a consultation. Currently looking at Europe for IVF as I don't think I'll qualify for NHS IVF for a while and for a few reasons don't want to delay any longer.

Fingers crossed for you both :) x
