Was told by mw at first meeting when I was 7 weeks to avoid runny yolks... so no fried eggs and no soft boiled ones.
Is this still the case now Im past 12 weeks?
Would absolutely love a soft boiled egg and toasted soldiers ;-)

I haven't avoided them at all to be honest - the only thing I heard was to make sure they were stamped ones from a supermarket because the hens are apparently vaccinated against salmonela.

i did see on tv a few weeks back that aslong as the eggs are lion marked,
they r fine no matter how they are cooked as the hens r vaccinated,
i cant tell u to go eat them tho as im not just in case :) xxxx

Any eggs are perfectly fine during any stage of pregnancy, as long as they are cooked right through. You can still eat fried eggs.

I think you can have as many as 2/3 eggs a day and cause no harm, infact eggs are good for you....enjoy

:)

Thanks girls... i knew about the lion stamp so maybe my midwife was being a bit overly caustious :)

I've never heard about the lion stamp thing - just checked the NHS website and there's nothing on there about it

:eh:

Haha I'm having this exact discussion with my OH right now! I reeeeaaaaalllly want a soft boiled egg with soldiers too! So stamped ones are ok? xx

I checked the NHS website - there's nothing on it about eggs having to be stamped...here's a link and what it says -

Raw or partially cooked eggs

Make sure that eggs are thoroughly cooked until the whites and yolks are solid. This prevents the risk of salmonella food poisoning. Avoid foods that contain raw and undercooked eggs, such as homemade mayonnaise. If you wish to have dishes that contain raw or partially cooked eggs you should consider using pasteurised liquid egg.

Not a thing about a lion stamp

:)

runny yokes are a no no! as little miss's quote states the yoke needs to be fully cooked!

i haven't had a runny yoke at all, and even stopped myself eating certain foods just in-case!
the frist meal i have when i get home after birth is soft boiled egg and soldiers :)

I caved lol! I'm eating boiled eggs as I type this... :S They are hard boiled though so no runny anything :) xx

I quite fancy some boiled eggs after reading this, might buy a pack for later. I sometimes boil 2 and mash them in a cup with butter for a snack

:)

Better safe than sorry... wil stick to non runny lion stamped vaccinated eggs :)

I got a book off of mw called ready, steady baby lol and it says yolk has to be cooked all the way through too. I have to admit, egg and soldiers sounds heavenly.

Something to put on the to eat list when lo is here :)

xxxxxxx

I have been cooking mine, altough nowadays salmonella is rare. But i'd rather be safe really

I have been having them a bit runny every now and then. GP was adamant stamped supermarket eggs are perfectly safe.

Runny yolk is fine, egg itself is fine as long as it's cooked properly and well! xxx

Oh and I've ate loads of runny eggs since I fell pregnant. No problems here :) xxx

Raw or undercooked eggs can contain salmonella bacteria. Cook eggs until the yolk and white are firm. Don't eat mousse, ice cream and fresh mayonnaise from delis or restaurants as these may contain raw egg. However, salad dressings that you buy in supermarkets, such as mayonnaise, are usually made using pasteurised egg, so are safe to eat x

I would personally stick to hard yolks, but in saying that, once or twice shouldn't harm baby. When I was on holiday I had 2 fry ups and both times the yolk was runny, I know I shouldn't have but I ate it.

Not sure what lion stamped actually means - It says on NHS website any eggs are fine - im sure they would say if we should only eat lion stamped ones.

:)

I asked my midwife today. If they are stamped they are ok :) so thrilled!
