Oh I have to rant
Ok, so back in may we ordered our nursery furniture, which was lush. The value of the package was £1800.

Our local Mothercare dept had sorted a deal on the entire range, meaning that you got the whole lot for £800 odd quid (bargain right).

Turns out the store made a booboo when doing this and they knocked way too much off the price - but they had to honour their offer under trading standards.

They were to order the whole thing through babyplan.

So, I get a call from the local store the other day, to say that they can only get two of our items, the cotbed and the wardrobe.

The changing unit and cot-top changer are no longer avaiable as the range (even though it's a new range) has been discontinued.

They offer me another range, but at full price (no longer any bargain that we'd originally secured).

I of course am raging as this is September and we orderd it back in May.

I send a snotty email to their customer sevice dept who come back and say that of course the range is still going, and that it is just out of stock and it should be back in very soon and delivered on time. All well and good then??

So, just cos it's niggling at me I phone the head office today to double check.

Again, get confirmation that it is just temporarily out of stock but will be back in soon and ready for my delivery on 18th November. Good thinks me. But the customer services adviser says she will just double-check with baby plan to be sure. OK.

So she gets back on the line, oh erm, turns out that yes the range is discontinued and we can only get our two bits (cot/wardrobe).

SO I am nearly crying on the phone cos actually it is all f'd up!!!!

They tell me that my balance left to pay on babyplan is £873 (we put like a £70 deposit down). As a gesture of good will they will let me have £1100 worth of different furniture for £873.

But then, I am only saving just over £200 getting £1100 worth for £873 - I was getting £1800 worth before!!

Do you get what I mean?? I am not getting anywhere near the value of stuff that I would have been before  I am so pissed off with them I swear!!!!!

What should I do??
Well done if you read all of that by the way (and understood it, I'm talking a bit of gibberish I know).

OMG massive hugs! What a pisstake.

You defo need advice and maybe if you have a citizens advice bureau by you at all they advise on things like this and if you have a leg to stand on etc etc can even supply you with templates of letters.

I am so so sorry to hear it must have been so exciting to have had it all coming then taken away.
Get it all in writing time dates name evreything and figh figh fight for whatever will help you feel better!!!

I know you have tried and tried and tried but theres defo another way Completely off topic but my sis she purchased a sofa in a sale once and it arrived broken after complaining to high heaven being told it had been discontinued etc she got the new released range of sofa for the same cost no balance to pay :) . But its alot of stress you dont need!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

 I dunno what to say but was to scared not to reply  they are a joke and its funny what range is it? Wonder if someone else tried to order it at full price they'd suddenly realise its just out of stock? Twats, everywhere just tries to con people  x

OMG princess! We had major issues with mothercare and our furniture set like u have! We didn't buy on the babyplan or anything and I wont write to whole saga out coz I'd be here all day but basically we complained and complained and complained and eventually got about £350 in gift cards. Fortunately we managed to get all the furniture sorted out too!............Don't give up on getting it sorted, get someone else to take it on as well as u.....both me and OH were complaining about each thing that went wrong and I layed it on thick about how pregnant I was and how I didn't need this extra stress (I was 33 weeks at the time and the saga had been going on for about 3 weeks!)

So sorry u are going thru this crap like we did! I REALLY hop u get it sorted soon xxx

That is sooooo uncalled for.
Can u not call trading standards and see what they say? Surely if you've had n agreement and they've failed to keep their end, they should honour it with diffrent furniture ofvthe sale value? X grr is be raging!!

I would definately keep writing to them, do it all by email and demand to get it sorted. At the end of the day, you ordered a cotber, wardrobe, changing unit and cot top changing unit all for 800. They have to provide you with it all whether its that range or another!! I would be absolutely fuming!! Honestly, just keep on..seems they are using the discontinued 'line' to get out of the commitment that was made by THEIR mistake!! Its shocking really!! If all else fails I would go to trading standards and tell them!! Its not acceptable! Lol sorry for the rant xxx

definately do it by email, dont accept anything from them until youre happy with it. Accepting a 'gesture of good will' is a legal agreement not to take things further. do you have any paperwork/recepits from your original order? Lay it on thick about time wasted and amount of money youve lost, and then about stress in pregnancy, and then how dissapointed you are that they have broken promises to you on several occasions. Then maybe you'd like to drop in the fact that you are a moderator on a very popular baby forum and that you will be making sure people hear about what a terrible experience you are having.

Thanks girls, I am so annoyed. We can get another full range for £1100 but it's nowhere near as nice as what we had originally picked. In my head, they should be offering us £1800 worth of stuff for £873, like we were getting originally. I'm not sure if I'm being irrational though

I would definitely write a strongly worded letter stating the events that have taken place, telling them you expect to receive the goods as promised , failing that an offer of alternative but matched deal. Dont forget to mention how the whole experience has been marred by their company and the despicable level of customer service and quite clear communication issues. Tell them you would like this complaint dealt with immediately and expect a written response within 10 working days.

I think you will find you get a result! .. utter *******s!

xx

nope totally rational, and if you dont love the stuff dont get it. You dont want to spend that much money unless you love it. You dont have to shop with them now, if you dont want to. They are the ones who broke the contract, you can get your deposit back and buy from John Lewis (I had a really good experience with them)

Maybe I will devise a letter and get you guys to proof read it..... :oooo:

Can u get the products u want on eBay? (after obviously emailing them and making a huge fuss!) if you've put a deposit down they should've kept u a set aside!

I'm back on the phone giving someone else more shit.

The very dresser that I am looking for (and allegedly can't get) is on the bottom left of the page on the link i've just posted. What the actual f**k. :wall:

*******s. remember, you have every right to want the products you love, youre spending a lot of money and deserve to have a nursery range you love, not just what theyre prepared to offer.... go get em tiger!

Id kick up such a fuss hunny, its not right treating you like that x x

I'm more angry than upset now. Apparently this has all now been logged (including my dresser still being adertised on the site). I am to expect a call to my mobile from one of the team tomorrow.
I did give them the option to send me this instead... it's 1500 instead of the 1800 (but that's its reduced price, it was originally 1900) we'll see what happens.

That's lovely! If you have an alternative still pay what you originally were supposed to pay. You only ever agreed to part with that much money.
