Hi all..

I know of the main signs of labour..
Waters breaking - show/mucus plus- contractions

But I was wondering if anyone else experiencef anything prior to the main giveaways
Thjnk I'm being so impatient to meet my little man every little twinge is me questioning labour and I'm only 35+2

Hi Charlotte,

I was checked a week before my due date and was 1cm dilated and the doc said it could happen any time so of course I was waiting and waiting!! I'd been having period type cramps in the middle of.the night for a week before seeing the doc.

In the end I woke up at 1am the day before DD was due to my waters going, no bloody show or anything. Contractions started off mildly 10 minutes later. No idea if it helped that my cervix had already started effacing a week before birth or if that is considered to be slow labour, but by the time I.got to the hospital 6 hours later I was already 10cm.

Its so hard no to be impatient, but just try to relax. Lounge on the sofa, sleep in, you won't be able to again for a long while!!

Good luck! xx

I woke at 1am with the shakes and i had to run to the loo! i didnt actually realize i was in labour until i tried to get back to sleep and my body wouldn't let me! Contractions started VERY light around my back and by 6am were quite frequent around my front :)

Thank you all.. It's so hard because I want to relax and enjoy my final baby free weeks but at same time I kinda want to meet him!!

Good to know all other symptoms :):)

For me I had nothing until one day I went for an afternoon nap. I had a strange dream that someone handed me a balloon and the balloon popped. I woke with a start and felt like something had popped for real... I ran to the bathroom and when I was halfway there, my waters broke with a gush. This was at 3pm. I went straight to hospital, got examined, and they kept me in.

My proper labour started shortly after midnight. I've read that early labour starts like period pains, I never got that, mine began with intense cramping every 5 minutes, lasting 40 secs to 1 minute each time.

For me I was in n out loo (for number 2s) for a few days before and period pain type ache for 24 hours before. I think I kinda knew I was in labour before actual contractions about 4 hours before

Twinges across my back, really aching pelvis, very tired and pooing a lot, lol. All happened the day before my contractions started for real. Then it was another three days of trying to regulate contractions before I was considered "in labour".

I woke up at 04:30 feeling proper AF cramping and knew it was happening (41+6) but I thought "just let me sleep a little longer" and went back to sleep until 08:00 when I casually walked into the sitting room and said to my husband, it's started I'm in labour...I bounced on the ball for a bit and watched some "everybody loves Raymond" before leaving for the hospital around 11am only because my husband had a hospital appointment and my mil didnt want me left on my own at home. Also another sign is crying x

I was due the 18th December and was told on the 17th that I still hadn't dropped and it wasn't looking like anything was going to happen very soon. On the 18th I did think my bump looked a bit lower but convinced myself it was just wishful thinking. Was super constipated so took lactulose before bed. Woke up at 5am on the 19th needing the toilet really badly and had tummy cramps. I went but felt like there might be more on the way so decided to lay on the sofa rather than go back to bed and disturb my other half. Still felt a but crampy and at 6:05 I felt this tightening then a big pop almost like a really hard kick from baby and I feel like I heard the pop too and realised that was my waters. Ran to bathroom where I got a full on gush - it just kept coming and coming! I had grade 3 meconium in my waters so had to go straight to labour ward to be monitored. So no real signs leading up to it all apart from needing the toilet but I blame that on the lactulose and I suppose can never be sure the strong stomach cramps to go toilet aren't what set the whole thing off!
X
