I'm about 10+1 with my first baby, and am just coming to terms with the fact I'm going to be a mummy. Now I'm determined to be the best mummy ever, so want to do everything I can to give bump the best possible start.
Having a browse through the forum, I've seen people talking about early scans? I thought the first scan was at 12 weeks? Am I supposed to have had a scan already? Am worried that my baby is missing out on things it needs :(
please help set my mind at ease!

Most early scans are paid for privately, whether for dating purposes or just to be nosey lmao (I am guilty of both ). On the nhs they are given for a number of reasons but if there's no cause for concern (past miscarriage, pain, bleeding etc) your first scan will be at 12 weeks

Congratulations hunny xxxxxxxxx

your first scan done on the nhs is at 12 weeks, some of the ladies on here have paid for private scans just to reassure themselves that all is ok in the pregnancy so dont worry, your not missing out on any vital checks etc :) congrats on your pregnancy also hope its a smooth journey for you xx

Babybrain beat me to it haha! x

Congratulations and welcome! :waves:

U usually get a scan at 12 weeks, but if, like myself, u have suffered a miscarriage or bleeding then u could get a scan done on the nhs to check everything is OK. I am paying for a private scan because I want to know my bean is Ok this time xx

Thank you for the reassurance :) It was a complete bolt from the blue, so was worried that my irresponsible behaviour over the 7 weeks before I found out would have harmed it in some way!

Omg lol if I think back to what I was doing before my bfp I'd give myself a heart attack. Babies are more resilient than we think and it's stopping the drink etc asap that counts xxxxxxxx

I had an early scan yesterday because I was bleeding. I would have waited till the 12 week scan if I hadn't had one on the NHS because I couldn't justify spending the money. Plus yesterday kind of felt like I was cheating!! (It was brilliant though) xx
