Early scan after miscarriages in UK?

Anyone know how likely I am to get an early scan if I request it due to the fact I've had early miscarriages? To put my mind at rest.

I got one on NHS after an early miscarriage in Cheshire EPU - he's now asleep upstairs in his cot!! Think it depends on region as PP says.

It's not always offered. Best way here is to speak to your gp and hope they will refer you for a reassurance scan. X

Also they mightn't scan you until 5-6 weeks, they may offer to do some blood tests to check your hcg is rising x

In Cheshire you can self-refer to the EPU - give yours a call. As Febmum says they wouldn't see me until 7 weeks.

Some do some don't depends on ur area , I just had to ring my epu after my first loss to arrange a scan when I wanted one and I would advise one between 7-8 weeks cos having one to early van cause more stress if they say ur dates arnt right etc I've seen it many times sometimes all turns out ok sometimes not , so by having a later scan there is no mistaking dates in most cases x

It's eight and a half weeks in Edinburgh after you've had a missed mc, or 2 mcs previously. I think to really make sure of dates etc... as jojo says. Epu here very reassuring, but hadn't suggested the blood tests to see if hcg rising. I'm 6 weeks and keeping fingers crossed for 3rd time lucky. Kept myself awake last night panicking! My trust has a 3 miscarriage rule (I am in central London though)

I actually felt guilty having my NHS scan with James - my 4th pregnancy - as I know how underfunded and oversubscribed EPU's are

It's always worth asking though

I was told no and that 2 miscarriages is considered "normal"

I'm sorry to hear that, I understand it's all about money but it's a bit insensitive. Will you think about a private scan?

I wasn't offered any and was told I would only get seen before 12 weeks if I had any bleeding or pain.

Babypheonix - don't know where you are but try doing some searches for pregnancy related support places, in Tyne and Wear there was one a friend suggested to me. They focus on unplanned pregnancies and support hat sort of situation I think where people are unsure. But as part of their service they offer scans to their clients however to maintain training and standards they sometimes except volunteers to "practise" on, a professional is always there though and may even do it. They were lovely when I went do might be worth s bit if research to see if there is anything near you as if was free of charge. Just a thought x

My husband passed out at our first scan at the charity place! And that was the time everything was ok haha, But like I said they were lovely

Combination of things we think, hates all thing medically, warm room, hadn't eaten and he was stressing because he wasn't sure what was going on as although they'd explained time before hand they didnt to him. Also they made him purch on a stool, but now they talk to the guys tooabdhave s proper chair
