Dr's Appointment

good evening ladies

well this evening i had my doctors appointment. it went really well

to begin with i thought he wasn't going to help but he quickly changed his mind when i told him i hadn't been on contraception for the past 7 years

he agreed to send me for the bloods that all u lovely ladies had told me about, i asked him to recheck my 21 day blood result and he assured me it was def in the 'normal' range (its the third dr ive asked so going to have to believe him). next week i am doing all the other bloods though, not sure what they are off the top of my head but when he was reeling them off they all sounded familiar, prolactin ? thyroid etc.

he said that when the results come back it won't completley prove that everything is fine, and by the end of the appointment (we were getting on like a house on fire! ) he said that when the tests come back no matter what the results, he can forward me to a fertility clinic/specialist who will probably prescribe clomid

so, i feel really relieved that something is finally getting done. thanks for all your advice and good wishes girls, it really helps

That's brilliant. So good you've found such a supportive doctor, I read about others on here and I think some think "fertility problems" is a dirty phrase, or just not important.
Fingers crossed your BFP is just around the corner, I hope you feel that a weight has been lifted now something is being done.

Thats a really positive outcome, thank goodness he was supportive. He obviously listened to you. I've lost all hope with mine, can barely get him to say hello or goodbye. So well done you. Hope you feel a little more relaxed about things now, keep us posted. xx

fx my bfp is around the corner. my doctor said that when he refers women, often they get their bfp before any treatment happens i said, if i get pregnant it down to you!! he quickly told me not to mention that to my boyfriend lol! oh he also said OH needs to get a sperm test. not really looking forward to that conversation. xx

kedi is there not another doctor you can see at your clinic? i think maybe baby changed doctor before she got anywhere? x

I've been thinking about changing to a different practice completely. It's a nightmare to get an appointment and when I do spend ages ringing from 8am I generally end up with a locum. Last couple of times I've got the same guy who is only there in evenings but he just doesn't seem interested. I've had to research everything and then ask for things so far.

Although at the moment I am waiting for OH to do his sperm test. We've had the pot since early December, but he is always working and when he does have the day off he sleeps for most of (can't blame him). Thought we would get the sperm test done then try one more time.

I had some of my bloods done, but really not sure what they were for. I've heard you girls talk about 21day bloods, I was told to go in the 1st or 2nd day of AF then a few days later. The results came back as normal though.

i think you should def try to change, its such a hard journey as it is without dr's making it more difficult. if you see my other thread to maybe baby and vickyxx they both explain a bit about what they had done. i'm having those tests done now. the cd21 test is to check that you are ovulating xx

I hate going to the doctors as it is, its even worse when they don't give a dam.

My friend conceived not long after getting referred to a fertility clinic, her hormones were surging at the wrong time. But then hey presto BFP, it was as if the relief of something being done kick started her system to sort itself out. You never know, Fx. x

So glad you had a helpful doctor sweetie, it' such a great help when they are supportive and gives you the confidence that they are taking your issues seriously. I think there was a question with my prolactin when I had my tests done but the consultant said it was nothing to worry about. That's another TTCer today who has got the ball rolling, yippee
