Hiya ladies,
When tia was first born she was totally breastfed (was determined this time), She pooed all her meconium out and been pooing on and off mostly every other day. My boobs became so engorged she couldnt latch on so i was expressing milk for her and getting loads till i was really ill for 3 or 4 days and couldnt express and havnt been able to since as my milk dried up. So even though i hate it she is now on bottles but feeding erratically. She can feed 2ozs then an hour later want another 2ozs or she will sleep for five hours and take only one! :wall: she has a slight bit of thrush which she is having oral gel for 4 times a day after feeds but having trouble getting it in cos some of her feeds are so close together. she comfort sucks too but a dummy just gives her bad wind poor thing so she having infacol before each feed too. The thing is i dont think she is pooing enough, its now tuesday lunchtime and the last time she passed anything was saturday evening. She isnt in any pain only when she needs to fart which really smells like she needs to go (sorry tmi) she brings her wind up nicely after each feed and she isnt straining to go so why isnt she pooing? Never thought i would get so worried about a clean nappy but i cant help it. Saturday evening i stayed over with a friend who is a midwife and she showed me what they do to babies who wont poo, You lay them on your lap with their feet up your tummy and one hand under the bottom of their backs supporting them, then very gently rub the lower part of their tummy in a circular motion and it stimulates their bowels, she did this and tia went straight away but it not working for me!! :wall: :wall: Anyone elses baby's bowel habits the same? or anybody have any ideas? sorry for the ramble never had this with my boys, xxxx

Alfie used to get constipated and i tried everything rubbing his belly, pulling his legs up, infacol, then i was told to give him just a few drops of cooled boiled water, b4 a feed he hates it but he would start loosening his bowels after about an ounce, also they do those coleif drops that r about a tenner and i havent used them but have been told they are really really good, id try the water Babes only needs a couple of slurps before a feed and it'll help, breast milk is a mixture of colosterum and actual milk so LOwould have been getting food and drink, with being bottle fed now its just the food now, she may just be a little thirsty hun let me know how it goes

I dont think she is constipated cos she isnt straining and seems happy enough, but will deffo try her with some water and see what happens. The health visitor is coming today to weigh her so will see what she has to say, Thanks for the advice i hope she shifts soon bless her xxx

Well we had 2 explosions tuesday and another wednesday and she is deffo not constipated just might have a really slow metabolism bless her or might be she only taking small feeds, 2ozs every 2 or 3 hours but she has gone through the night the past 3 so i must be doing something right :cheer: :cheer:

kayzee breastfed babies are either everyday pooers or storaerupperas as i put it :rotfl:

I have had two babies who poo'd everydayand the oher two stored up their poo and poo'd every 4- 6 days.

Breast milk is such good stuff there is very little waste so if you get a baby who doesn't poo everyday its ok. It means your milk is good! :)

HOWEVER if your baby sems distressed or constipated )(which is rare in breastfed babies) contact your HV.
